At 09:45 listening and learning about the pitch is an eye opener (the benefits of planting or not on the skins).

"The drums our jazz heroes played" I.e Gretsch hehe this kit sounds fantastic, but do you buy the USA custom or buy DW jazz series? I hear very similar tonal qualities out of both kits but find myself on the fence...I don't think you could go wrong with either, but I'm having had time deciding after hearing Peter give theses some serious justice!

I was on the fence like you. They are almost identical. I went with Gretsch out of tradition. Both are very nice.

I've got a DW Jazz at my music school. And it's phenomenal. So easy to tune, sounds round and great, like a true jazz kit. I can just recommend it.

Sounds great. I thought the jazz series was mahogany/gum? This is maple/gum. Also, does anyone know what cymbals Peter is playing? Sound so classic, so great!

Peter Erskine could play any set, and make it sound the same amazing way (I know for sure, he played two times in the past a Yamaha set of mine of medium quality, making it sond better than before). Anyway, this is a wonderful drumset

What are the dimensions of the bass drum?
@kirkmcconnor98617 жыл бұрын
It's an 18" Diameter, I think it's 14" deep.

@@kirkmcconnor9861 No way, that's a 16x14.

Kirk McConnor yeah I know but no way it’s 18. I’ve got an 18 on a lift and it’s much higher.

Tama makes world class drums. Look at Star. No manufacturer comes close.

I don’t think Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich played on too many 20” bass drum kits. Gene only played Slingerland...Buddy, many more, but mainly Slingerland and Ludwig. He didn’t like his DWs and got rid of them.

its a Gretsch USA custom with DW badges rip off DW bought Gretsch.
@Assimilator7023 жыл бұрын
Are the Gretch shells made by DW now that they own Gretch? I know Gretch used to get their shell made by Keller which made them more of a custom drum builder rather than a true drum company.

It’s pretty simple-Tama has a superior sound. Period.
