A 38 years old peter gade at 2014 still could play pro badminton. It really unbelievable.

Interesting match, thanks for sharing. Yakura's technique isn't bad, but this match really shows why the top pros are so much more consistent and steady under pressure as compared to good amateur players. Peter's reputation probably also "forced" several unforced errors from Yakura since he must have been nervous to play someone of Peter's caliber.
@Aznremix10 жыл бұрын
I disagree with Nyl being nervous. He has nothing to lose while Peter does. It just goes to show that Nyl just needs more training and with time he will become one of the best players in Canada since hes not very used to the rallies that Peter exchanges with other players. Peter has been playing badminton his whole life while Nyl is taking this as a learning experience. Give Nyl some time and he'll show some promise.

The perfect example of why playing only fancy game with very less skill is useless in badminton. If you can't control your errors, then you are no better than ameteur.

@Alpha957824 жыл бұрын
@@ashishkriplani1250 Well. He has a point though. The guy really needs to amp his basic game up. For instance - The cross court net drops were wack af, backhand pushes might look impressive but did he win any point? His tactical approach was outright dumb. Who on Earth plays a backhand clear that high when he clearly has the backhand wrist strength to play it flatter? He was giving PG enough time on clears to literally play any shot he wants to. And if diving seems impressive, it's not buddy. Just look at the separation between his legs when he is at the centre. A clear indication that this guy is prepared to dive even before his opponent has played the stroke, and this is the reason why he couldn't reach to PG's drops at all. This guy's net play is horrible across all fronts and the smash placement? He was spoonfeeding PG. Further, don't play a China smash when you can't give direction. What else do you need? You can't even say this player is skillful enough to compete at international league.

This is a very hard match for someone like this guy Yukara, who seems to rely on his smash and backhand. A more "hard worker" type player, who keeps the shuttle in play and has fantastic footwork, would be better at making an older retired player's life difficult.

Very cool! shows some perspective on the different caliber of players. Nyl clearly has technique, speed, and reactions. But Peter has match fitness, and mental clarity as well as world class experience. Fun to watch, hope Nyl had fun. I would be having the time of my life in his shoes. :)

That Yakura kid is talented. When he makes those diving digs and finally gets Peter to miss, you can see his confidence go up. That's when he finally started to believe his talent could match Peter's and he started hitting better, tighter shots more consistently. This was the king of exhibition match I like to see; one that blossoms a young player. I'm pretty bummed I missed this event but the advertising on Peter's page or through Canadian Badminton Facebook pages was non existent. I'm in Ontario and would have gone to meet my greatest idol. I sure hope he comes back. 37 isn't too old!

Ban Fasso - Today I'm not sure. But on that day, or year, I don't think he's anywhere near Peter's level. It's very easy to see Peter had played a very easy game against him.
@moatef188612 күн бұрын
@@huaxzhang5 years ago when you commented, I would STILL say Peter Gade at his age back then would be better than Nyl 5 years ago. Maybe NOW there’s a difference, but Gade still has world class shots and smooth footwork, it wouldn’t be an easy win for Nyl even today.

Do you think Peter was doing his best?
@Taberwable8 жыл бұрын
+Winston Furholden Ho I think it's his second nature to make good consistent shots, but I think he's playing to entertain the crowd. It's his choice of shots not the movement that makes a difference if he's really serious or not. I think we might feel that Peter had to exert quite some effort because Yakura is a fast player especially the camera was on Yakura's side. Nonetheless you could see Peter was in a lighthearted mode all throughout the video. Take a look at some of his matches with other top players like TH, LCW or LD. He's a bit more expressionless.
@shopeeseller8 жыл бұрын
+KZbinr well you make a good point. He does seem expressionless during matches against other stronger players. But it's just that i have seen Peter move way faster than this. It might just be the camera angle that's playing tricks.
@Taberwable8 жыл бұрын
I agree too.
@evokaiyo6 жыл бұрын
It's clear as day and night that Peter wasn't trying his best. This is an exhibition match, he was putting effort to entertain. He was clearly messing around a lot and giving Nyl some opportunities to attack for entertainment purposes. It really wouldn't be fun for the spectators if Peter really went all out, as there wouldn't be too many good rallies to see.
