I was lucky enough to see (and hear) Kees Dussink last Sunday. I was struck with amazement by the sound he played with his band, composed for the occasion (s he said). I regretted not having seen him at work sooner. It gave me an incredible experience and I am sure I want to see his band in action again. Very high class of playing and the enormous calm that he radiated. Peter Green should have heard this tribute (although not every song that was played was a Peter Green song. But nevertheless, amazing.

I have copied to the best of my ability and recorded most of peter's instrumentals. But Slabo Day- which I had missed until now- is extremely difficult in terms of timing and to remember which bit comes where in sequence. I am not too keen on Snowy's live rendition on youtube but the original recording is magical. Thanks entirely to you, I have been able to pick out the notes and the timing and to add this wonderful tune to my repertoire. I think that the original recording is quite difficult to make out but yours is crystal clear. So thank you. I did see Peter and Fleetwood Mac at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester England in 1970. For me , peter is unique in that he played blues with melody which no one else ever did. His music lives on.

Hi Kees, I've been listening to you for many, many years. Very familiar with this song by Peter Green, also a musician who I appreciate immensely as well. Thanks for reminding all of us that Peter was truly brilliant. Love your version as well as the Snowy White version too. Twelve Bar Blues Band plays so well and I still have them on my playlist. Did they ever do Slabo Day?

Hi, thanks!! I used a self build Tele with Warmoth body en custom P90 pickups (out of fase in middle position). Neck 52 years old wood. Amp: Kauffmaunn Silverado 50 watts. Overdrive: Cot50 (self build) and Strymon blue sky reverb. To be honnest...You can get this sound with almost any tube amp and a guitar with "out of fase" circuit. So I think no special gear is required,

Hello Mr. Dusink, I discovered your channel about an hour ago. The first video I watched was your recording of Slabo Day. It's the first time I've seen someone play this note by note. Like on the original studio recording from the seventies. Even Snowy White didn't exactly reproduce it in its official live version! I've been fascinated by this instrumental since I first heard it in 1979. I recorded it for the first time in a friend's home studio in 2009. I played and recorded it again just two days ago. But all my reproductions of this wonderful piece of music are far from your perfection! I'll study your recording and maybe play and record Slabo Day again next year. I hope you don't mind that I learn and copy a lot from you! I wish you a good time. Best regards!

Thanks sir. Great to hear you appreciate my version of this nice song. Please feel free to contact me for additional explanation (if desired). Regards Kees

@@KeesDusink Hello Mr. Dusink, I'm going to study your video for a while. There is a big difference between just listening to the music and seeing the fingerings on the guitar. I've listened to the original Slabo Day recording many times, but I've never seen it gripped with complete accuracy. Thank you for offering me the opportunity to ask if necessary. I might do that. All the best for the future and stay healthy!

@@Gitarreroblue Nice to hear that you will dive in the deep and use my video as a kind of reference. I Known at 2 points I'm not 100% accurate, which is because I could not analyze exactly which notes were played, beause it was played at lower volume. But it was a great experience to study this nice song. I wish you succes, patience and a lot of pleasure playing Slabo Day

What a tone and skills and soul ! Thanks 👍🏻. Blues on big brother 🎸🖖🏻 Is this tele in middle position with out of phase wiring or magnets on these p90 ? If so, how did you do with the relative volume between pickups ? You adjusted the height of the bridge pickup with respect to the neck ? Just curious, technicalities apart you have a great feel. Bravo bravo
@KeesDusink2 жыл бұрын
Hi Walter, thanks for the nice words! The neck pickup is wired in the opposite direction, in order to get the out of phase tone. The whole guitar is designed to reduce bass. (chambered body, shorter screws for the E, A and D string) I play with all volume and tone knobs full open.
