Hammill is a poet, creator and visionary unparalleled in my lifetime. This is his masterpiece. I have been listening to this for close to 50 years. Never ever fails and never will

@@abarkcanoe Double Thumbs up if possible. This man has been the friend, confidant and therapist I never met for more than 50 years. At least as influential; on my thinking and music as anyone I can think of (Of which I can think...)

yeah....(not proud of it) but i've necked just about every drug on this planet and yet i still can't fathom where hammell draws his inspirations and lyrics from . And i've wondered and stumbled in the dead zone ! my only conclusion is that he dabbled in solvent abuse cuz that's where most truths are unbound .

❤ EnzoItaly

Awesome song! Peter Hammill has composed some great stuff over the years; with and without Van Der Graaf.

Guy Evans's heroic cymbal crashes at "my soul is cast in crystal..." This would have to be in my top 10 Hammill songs. It is a piercing, harrowing glimpse of the divine. So glad I didn't ever hear this back in my acid experiments. I'm not sure I'd have made it back.

tell ya this, i've done just about every drug including solvent abuse, and i still can't get to where Peter gets his information and inspiration, the guys got gods and demons in his pocket.

Narh, but sounds like the only human in the history of all time who met God & got all the answers and incriminationally departs said information into his lyrics, why sell ya soul to Satan when him up stairs can offer a better deal. By the way i'm a total atheist so i'm not speaking literally , i dont believe i God i believe in Syd Barret & Peter Hammel .

Narh but but i think he's had a one on one consultation with some god though, i've done just about every drug on this planet including severe solvent abuse and Peter's lyrics still come at me from behind the vale.

@@scottbrown7203it’s a desecration to get silly here but my only reply to your comment is taken directly from the text on a small, clear plastic, Chinese pen/ pencil case with a floating, soft serve ice cream shaped ghost with stick on wiggly eyes. Here it is: “HAPPY OUR TIME. Always somewhere miss you where I laughing I’ll be back to love again.”

the lyric ''some say they see me weeping in the poppy fields of France'', i heard it as ''leaping in the poppy fields ......'' Christ! i thought how fucking evil can Pete get, what's next i pondered some piss take aimed at the holocaust.
