That last note of Tim’s is his Dragon Breath 😂 Tim has blown speakers at their concerts with his low notes Peter is a master at layering voices This video was 120+ layers Peter and Tim were in separate locations. Peter was in Oregon USA and Tim was in the Caribbean. Tim and Peter have many many collaborations together

This is my favorite version of this song. The contrast in voices is beautiful. Peter in the higher tenor ranges & then paired with the true natural bass voice of Tim. And that last dragon's breath note is truly remarkable & how long he sustains it. Peter & Tim have collaborated on quite a few other songs & they are all beautiful. Peter is a master at layering voices. Check out "Sound Of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Greensleeves", "Fire & Rain", "Teach Your Children", "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "You Can Close Your Eyes", "And So It Goes", "Blackbird", "You've Got A Friend".

From what i can tell this is just Peter and Tim with both of their low and high notes layered. I enjoy when Peter colabs with Home Free. This and " Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For " are my favorites. Thanks for the Home Free and Home Free-ish reactions. They seem to gather such talented people around them.

Peter Hollens was in Oregon and Tim Foust was on Grand Cayman Island when they did this. Peter is a master at layering voices and it’s said he laid out approximately 120 tracks for this.

Tim and Peter go way back, over 20 years. They have many collaborations and made an album together called Beautiful Duets. Peter is a master of layering voices and there are 120 tracks of just their two voices. If you stare at Tim at the end, you’ll see the camera shake on that last note. Tim has a 5 octave range so he can sing super low and then sing high with the tenors. Love this!!! Good one MP!😄

I absolutely love this version! Tim’s last note was crazy! He has a 5+ octave range! Peter is an amazing artist, producer, and everything else music-related! Peter and Tim have collaborated on many more songs. Check out their Simon & Garfunkel cover of Sound of Silence. There are many more, but that one really stands out in my mind first. Also, maybe check out Adam Chance’s channel. He’s got some great covers and originals, plus he has collaborated with a married duo called The Hound + The Fox on some great covers. One of my favorites is “Wayfaring Stranger” cover from all three! I think you will like it.

Check out the Bass Gang ft Tim Foust for their Dr. Hook cover of Hooked on a Feeling. The members of the Bass Gang are from around the world, and until recently never met in person and did everything collab online. I think. you will like that, and see more of Tim's range.

YES! There are two versions on their channel, now (plus if you look up the one from the Sing-Off, it's slightly different, but just as wonderful). The first one they did for the channel, though, is with Avi Kaplan as a guest around the campfire. It's WAY cool. The other one is newer, without Avi.

Before you get back to home free, you have to listen to Tim Fousts solo a capella version of 'will you still love me tomorrow/stay" to get an idea on his range. He goes higher and lower then this, but it gives you a fuller picture of what this man can do. Also, Tim and peter have a whole album out of duets.

The great thing about "Greensleeves," is that it shows Tim's smoothness in skipping back and forth between his lower range and his higher range...he just slides right up there effortlessly, and then back down, like it's the easiest thing in the world (and it is, for him). 😀

There's so much either of them have done ... I'm not sure what to suggest for you next! Collaborations of those two have been mentioned by @fredamedic2000 - And there are several songs where Tim drops his earthquake-notes. There are now even compilations of him hitting a G-0 or even lower. But never forget, he has an almost inhuman range, so he also can go quite high.

Tim Foust can hit some freakin' lows, huh? Lots of dudes can hit lows. But Mr. Tim Foust can sustaaaaaaaaiiiiin those lows for days. And that's so rare and so difficult to do. Takes a lot of practice and the right anatomy. One thing I like so much about Tim's voice is how much clarity he can get in the low register. Amazing tambour to his voice. BTW you may want to check out Peter Hollens with Home Free. They've done some wonderful collaborations. My favorite one to highlight Peter's range is "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." It's a U2 cover they did during quarantine, where they were all in different places. It's astounding, and I think you will like it.

I knew you would like this as soon as you said you could imagine Tim singing it. Fellow Tolkien fan here and this has to be my favorite of all the different versions I have heard. The choir like sound just feels like Tolkien to me. Peter is a master at layering vocals to get that big sound...so he can take just two people and make them sound like this. It helps that Tim has an insane range himself so some of the high notes may have been him. According to an Austin Brown interview, when he is singing lead and there is a high vocal in the back, when they do it live, that vocal is usually Tim with Chance jumping into the bass line and Rob dropping to baritone. The flexibility of these guys is truly incredible to watch/listen to. If you want more Peter Hollens and Tim Foust, I would say Greensleeves, Sound of Silence or Bridge Over Troubled Waters. If you want to see Peter with the whole Home Free group, I would check out Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. (It also has a surprise in it.) If you want more Tim, practically anything in the Home Free catalogue of over 200 songs would work or you could check out some of his Doo Wop songs on his KZbin channel.

Not sure about where Tim was at that point in time, but Peter lives in Oregon, and I'm pretty sure that was Oregon in the background for him in this song. The Hound + the Fox live there, also. We used to live not far above where Peter lives, only about an hour away -- across the border in Washington State. We used to LOVE driving down by where Peter lives. When you watch "Bridge Over Troubled Water," you can see a whole area where we used to go "play" every once in a while, because it's so beautiful down there! 😀

If you react to Dan's version of "I'll Make a Man out of You," you'll get to see Peter be one of the cameo performances near the middle of the song. Just be sure that you read Dan's PINNED COMMENT before you react, and you'll see who the others are, also. Peter and SKAR are two of the most-known, and you may be familiar with the others (at least one more of them). Thank you for THIS great reaction! It's so great! It's been one of my favorites for a LONG time, now. 😀

Listen to Geoff Castellucci’s version of this song. Geoff is all 4 people you see on screen and sings all parts. Geoff is the bass singer from another acapella group called Voiceplay. If you like Home Free, you will also like Voiceplay. Fun fact, they competed against each other in The Sing Off that year after Pentatonix. Home Free won, but Tim mentored Geoff a bit in low bass singing techniques and now Geoff os every bit as good as Tim, and he has a ton of solo content on KZbin as well as his songs with Voiceplay. In a Geoff Castellucci vid, all of the characters and voices are him, singing harmony with himself.

You are starting to fall into the deep rabbit hole of the acapella world. It's a small world with many personal connections with the singers even from different groups. You might want to listen to Tim's dragon breath on either version of Home Free's Ring of Fire. In the earlier version, Avi Kaplan who is also a great bass and was an original member of Pentatonix sings with Home Free. Tim Foust can sing tenor, baritone, and bass. He has a five-octave range. Tim is also gifted in that unlike many basses in their lower ranges, Tim's words are well-defined in the lower ranges..

It is amazing and can, if you're in an emotional mood, cause tears.
