Up there with the very most spectacular players to ever take the field, Knightsy was a genuine superstar, from schoolboy to veteran, at both ends of the ground. Made footy so exciting. Tingles down the spine just thinking about what he did. Legend.

Peter Knights is my all-time favorite athlete in any sport. Thank you for compiling and posting--many great moments here that I haven't seen anywhere else. Great memories of a great player.

My first footy memory is Peter Knights in the 1978 GF, I was 5. He was a superhero to me as a young fella. Wish I had have been around for his earlier footy days.

There's no way I could sit down watching Peter knights play footy...I'd be standing up making sure I don't miss a thing...that's definitely one of the best footballers I've ever seen.

Yep....My 3 boyhood heroes growing up too....always looked for those 3 to run through the banner & felt both instant relief & reassurance once they did.

Peter Knights was one of our greatest players. He was a star in the 1970s in the VFLWorld. If not for injuries, he would have been a dual Brownelow medallist.

Crazy good athleticism & freakish aerial ability.....a true footballing god to me as a boy growing up....How he missed out on the Team of the 20th Century Center half back position to Ted bloody Whitten, was a bloody travesty....fully political & they chose a boys-club thug over a super-star....The equal to Barney in being able to influence finals results & in dragging us over the line in 1976 & 1978....Should have 4 Premierships but for doing his knee in the Second Semi win over the Saints in 1971.....Champion footballer & still only 2nd to Barney as a Hawk in my books..

Knights is one of the greatest Hawthorn players of all time maybe second to Leigh Matthews
