Peter Mattei mesmerises with his voice - in an empty room wearing a t-shirt, trousers and sneakers. Met Opera rehearsal video, and something similar with the Wintereise. This "mickey mouse" - in more ways than one - production GETS IN THE WAY OF GREATNESS...and don't have a singer eat greasy foods during a performance...it's insulting! The way this is directed, Don G is a bully, and in the sadistic phase of syphilis... of course Mattei "carries it off" so to speak, but it GETS IN THE WAY...If I wanted to see bullies - I'd watch women's wrestling or MMA or whatever it's called sport... Opera is about MUSIC... Drama expressed primarily through SOUND, beautiful voices...

So glad I didn't pay to see this one! How nasty! How gimmicky! How insulting to the very art of Opera! Opera is music and "heart." I got the impaired acoustics and artistic abuse of a great performer. The director must never ever ever work on any of my great scripts! End of! That's the last...Love Mattei!

Cool stage design, but it doesn’t make any sense with Leporello’s part

...I'm trying to understand that too...Don G as an IT exec and Leporello as his sycophantic flunkie...? But the stage design is negatively affecting the acoustics.
