I like the bag, unfortunately my original Nomatic bag had a zipper failure on the main compartment and it has been a daunting task to get Nomatic to RMA the old bag. I'm hoping that they resolved the stitch failures that the previous one had instead of doing two rows of stitching for the main zipper I'm hoping they did enough to make it last a lifetime.

Pete's bags definitely look nice. I'm someone who does like the side access though. I quite like the side door while I'm cycling around or don't intend to change lenses much. When you are frequently changing around your lenses/filters etc the rear access is a lot nicer of course.

Looks amazing. My only criticism (as someone who uses lowerpro) is that with the straps being attached to the back section. If someone was to unzip it while on your back (as a joke or theft), the entire bag could fall open. Whereas with the lowerpro design, the bag will remain shut, which is something that gives me an extra feeling of security.

It does seem to compare favorably in terms of weight, the ladder version is just as heavy as the PD ZIP 20L with dividers (3.42 lbs / 1.55kg), but of course offers some extra volume. The standard PD backpack is rather heavy - even the 20L version is already at 2.01kg / 4.43lb.

The bag seems solid, the one downside is that the cube system lacks additional protection on top of the equipment to prevent potential rustling and movement or clacking of items in the top of the bag when it is closed. now, i am probably stretching here, but it might be useful to get some foam or something to put on top for more protection just in case.

Just waiting for the day a sling or side bag is made with something like that top "loft area" that's in the everyday bag. I love having the overhead view while shooting so I can easily switch out lenses while still having another area for anything else I might want to bring along (drinks, medications, small details, etc) and not have the worry it will leak through to the other compartments or be able to spread condensation. Plus having it closed from the top view while not in use keeps it looking clean and organized.

The reason the straps are in front of the zippers in the Lowepro bag is so that the weight of your gear does not put strain on the zippers, which are more likely to break or suffer deformities if you're expecting them to "hold" the bag together; especially with some weight in it, by being the stress point between the straps and the rest of the bag. I would much rather have the function of my zipper and threads to be solely in keeping my bag shut, even if I need to move theem out of the way.

This looks to have the same issue as the other bag. If you haven't gone completely mirrorless you shouldn't bother. I bought the Nomatic X and I wish I didn't as it simply is not deep enough to hold my camera with the grip pointing up. My old LowePro can hold two DSLR bodies with their grips. My 70-200 f2.8, 300 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8 along with a bunch of accessories.

@martindalpe.photography3 жыл бұрын
good bag for small kit. the only problem I see with that bag, the strap are connected to the panel that flip, you see it as positive, what I see is the weight will be apply to the zipper, in the long run, the zipper has big chance to fail because of the weight stress apply on it. on all camera bags I own, for now the one I like most is the Manfrotto Bumblebee 130, on a photoshoot trip ( 10 to 14 days ) , I have 9 kilos of equipments and walk 10 to 15 km a day without problems. But I'm always looking at new bags, I think you can always do better.

It would be nice if they made extra camera cubes so if you have different setups/gear for different shoots, it would help organize ones storage shelves at home/studio. Other than that, I really like the new bag. I have the other P.M. Nomatic bag, and I love that for traveling.
@papsny3 жыл бұрын
I've had a bunch of camera bags over the years. So far only one bag has stood out the test of time and functionality: The Jansport (Black) backpack + Domke wraps You see, when you're a beginner you're into all these gear that you think you need to carry everywhere. But as time goes on and you master your craft, you realize that all the gear in your backpack is slowing you down. A good camera body + a 35mm or 50mm does the job 90% of the time. (I personally use a Sony A7RIV + 35mm.) For every day, EDC kinda gear, I carry a RX100 VII and a ZV-1. But what about when you do weddings or professional work? That's when I use a Think Tank Production Manager 40 + Think Tank roller bag. Because you need to save as much energy as you can and have all your gear + backups. Something that a backpack won't be able to do. I think the PM bag is more for his fanboys, or perhaps the casual photographer/videographer. You see, PM is the type of guy that gets his income doing content. He's not the type who shows up at 4AM to shoot a wedding or be pressure to do a 15-30 minute professional studio shoot. So for his needs, the bag might be great! For the beginner, sure why not? But for those who need something fast or robust, there are other solutions out there. 2 cents

Regarding securing a tripod, you havent watched the KS campaign, have you? With the strap design on the lowepro, the tension if carrying a heavy backpack is on the frame. Where is the tension if the straps are on the back panel, below the zipper? All the pressure is on the zipper. How long will that last? Don´t be so quick to jump on the hype, the lowepro is a best seller for a reason.
