It’s much deeper than just be a hypocrite. And much worse too. Because he’s a narcissistic sociopath, he actually sees himself as the victim of his own child STEALING his youth and “robbing” him of his chance to stay a child and dreamer. He believes his kid held him back from his freedom and chances in life. It’s this mentality that enables him to discard his own child and view his child as someone who took something from HIM-his youth and dreams. At his core he is evilly selfish and self involved, and cares for no one but himself. While at the same time tricking other kids to turn on their own parents by making them believe their PARENTS were stealing THEIR youth and holding THEM back with a bunch of rules. And that he could “save” them from ever having to grow up. That way he could get them to stay with him so he would not be lonely and so their belief in him could feed his own youth magic to stay a boy forever and become immortal. And by staying in Neverland none of them would ever have to grow up, including himself. He’d act like it was something he was doing for the lost boys, but it’s all a ruse; because everything he did only stood to serve himself. At his very core is a self centered, maniacal narcissist and perfect sociopath; as with all sociopaths, he sees himself as the victim when he’s actually the perpetrator.

@Bannar10 жыл бұрын
No, he remembers very clearly he's Rumpel's father. It's shown immediately after this flashback. He's a dick to him now because he's lived years as an ageless demon with dark shadowy powers, and that's gone to his head. Though he was never a good man to start with... ztslovebird

The first half of the third season was amazing. Robbie Kay as Peter Pan was badass, sizzling hot, cunning, charming and manipulative at the same time... I loved how they made Neverland a nightmare with no daylight, the lost boys cruel teenage bandits, Tinkerbell a disgraced wingless fairy, Hook a complicated character capable of both good and evil, and Pan the ultimate villain. As much as Rump certainly pisses any dedicated Oncer (he basically betrayed everyone endlessly since forever), you can't not feel for him watching this. The revelation here is so crazy... Peter Pan wasn't the boy who didn't grow up here- he is the adult who abandoned his son for eternal youth- as ironic as it gets. It's too bad Pan's demise came so soon. He was a different type of villain that Once rarely have.

@12classics392 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Not enough people seem to recognize that Pan clearly isn't happy in this moment. He gets what he said he wanted, yet reacts with pure horror. He realizes he made the biggest mistake of his life but is too narcissistic to make an effort to allow anyone to see he was wrong, so he bottles up his feelings and ignores it. Yet he names himself after his son's favorite doll, as a way to punish himself.

Yeah. It's hard to tell with Peter Pan since he's great at his mind games. I think he cares a little for him, but he's clearly a narcissistic parent. Narcissistic parents are incapable of truly loving their children since they are all about themselves and there own well being. So, they'll care if their child were to get hurt like any person would, but they're still all about their self. Lol, I didn't mean to get deep there but I really like doing analysis on characters.

Makes sense how the accent, parallel one another.
@ISpyABirdie9 жыл бұрын
The Annihilator I was just saying that Rumple's father's name, Malcolm derives from Scottish descent, as Pan has always been played British. So they had to make Lord say 'Laddie' bc that's a Scots term for Boy, since Kay was saying it earlier before Lord said it. And for both versions of Rumple were spot on, A&E know how to cast actors for their characters. I didn't say anything was wrong with it, just it was good casting.
@ISpyABirdie9 жыл бұрын
The Annihilator Why would there be, I didn't do anything wrong. There's four actors, 2 of a kind playing the same character, of old/young versions, 2 British (Kay/Lord) and 2 Scottish (Carlyle/Oleff), and only that Lord who is British that had played Malcolm, had to speak like he was Scottish. That's all. Can't be too confusing. Even I know that. :)

The writers keep writing her stupid, even now that Rumbelle isn't so much of an it atm, just that Emilie is the reason why I watch this show... and ofc Bobby as well. Which is why I've shipped Rumbelle ever since Skin Deep, so forgive me if I hate this 4B arc, I know Ems was going through some stuff last year, and well it explains why Rumbelle weren't seen much of this second half. Okay . . . so I’ve watched this show since I was nine-years-old so I was twelve when this episode came out. Obviously I didn’t recognize Wyatt Oleff back then because there wasn’t the ‘IT’ 2017 remake yet. But when I found out that he was on ‘Once Upon a Time’ I was like “Oh my gosh!”. It’s like when you see someone from a show or a movie as a little kid and you don’t really care or notice or care enough to notice (if that makes any sense); then you see that same person years later on a different show or movie and your just like “How on Earth did I never notice that?!”. But anyways, I love ‘Once Upon A Time’ and I love the new ‘IT’ and oh my gosh Wyatt looks so freaking adorable 😍. #OnceUponATime #It2017 #WyattOleff and #LiveLikeLine just because. Have a great day everybody!

This is actually very philosophical and psychological, he had to believe he is young, and then he will be, and therefore he can’t have a child there to remind him constantly

This show was good at the start but cringey but this reveal was so good!!! It’s so creepy because every time Pan threatened rumple in the forest on neverland, he was really saying that to his own son. I started watching once upon a time a few months ago and I’m on season 3, I hope the show gets better afterwards cuz this was greatest plot twist I’ve seen so far.

It's no wonder rumple turned out the way he did. Look at the example Peter pan set. Left behind his son, chose power over family. like father like son.
