I live here in Cherokee NC and have never ate there but hear it's really good . I noticed it's always busy and people waiting out front when we drive by there.thankabdor sharing

You are very welcome. We had heard that it was really good, so we decided to try it for ourselves. We got up really early and drove up there for breakfast, since we were coming to Cherokee and Bryson City anyway. We really enjoyed it.

That is terrible news about the owner of the motel being killed. I liked the light coloring of the panel in the restaurant, it made it very bright and clean looking. The food looked good and the prices seemed good,especially with what prices are today.

And I looked up online what happened, and it seems the motel owner was also a school teacher, as well. Plus, the girl that runs the office here at this motel, was his niece. She said that he was in an altercation with a customer who was being unruly, and he asked the customer to leave. That's when it got violent and turned tragic.

Wow Sounds like one bad thing after another! Im so sorry about the man dying. I didn’t hear about that. I guess they just shut down the hotel?!?!!! Im glad you had a good breakfast. Ive never eaten there and I’ve always wanted to try it. The times are a changin… Im so sorry! Don’t ever listen to me tey to sway you this way again! I feel terrible!

Why do you feel terrible? You didn't do anything wrong. We actually had a wonderful breakfast there, and we've loved Cherokee for years. The thing about the motel owner getting shot, was just one of those things that tragically happened. You can look up the story about him. His name was Lambert Wilson, and it happened sometime in late October. His niece worked at the other motel that we ended up staying at, and she was telling me that he had asked a customer at the El Camino to leave the property. Not sure what happened, but the customer demanded a refund before he would leave, and one thing led to another, and he was shot. I think he was also a school teacher at one point. But other than the thing with the motel, we had a great time. And even more important than the time we had, is the fact that this man lost his life. That's very sad. Everything I've read about him since finding out, indicates that he was a very selfless and generous person.

Okay- I didn’t know it was lambert Wilson. I just found out he died today and I sent you a comment. Ive not heard anything on the news and can find no details! Gosh- yeah a good guy. I hope they find out who did it! Im not finding anything! Let me know if you hear. He was big on collecting Indian baskets from elders. And has a beautiful gallery, queen gallery, with old Indian baskets etc.

@@cumberlandquiltchic1 So you knew him? That is really sad. Hate that for him, and for his family. My understanding, was that he had asked an unruly guest to leave the motel, and the guest refused to leave unless he got a refund. One thing led to another, and then a tragic ending. I am not sure if the person who did it, is in custody. I would imagine it would be easy enough to find out who was registered there, so I'm guessing he was arrested and charged.

I didn’t personally know him. Id spoken with him about cherokee old river cane baskets back in the fall. Early fall, I guess. So, when I saw this today, I was shocked! So, I can’t seem to find anything about anyone being arrested or anything online. I’ll have to ask some friends in bryson city tomorrow who live on the reservation and might have heard something.
