@@PeterSpragueMusic considering my current distain for human beings right now, I'm not entirely sure that you are a human. And I mean that in the best possible way. This is fantastic. Far and away the most enjoyable version of MFF I've ever had the pleasure of hearing - right up there with Coltrane's. Although what I really like about this performance is that it is beyond just being about the guitar - it's really great as pure music.

@stanleyshook20114 жыл бұрын
@@PeterSpragueMusic I should be screaming at you for showing me I'll never be able to play this tune even remotely close to how well you (and many others) have played it. Historically I have allowed myself to be more frustrated than inspired from watching the great masters play. I'll never forget how I felt the night I saw Stanley Jordan play a concert in Stanford, circa 1985ish. OH MY! My mind was blown. When I got home to my guitars, I just stared at them as if they were total strangers. The same thing happened 20 years later when I say Charlie Hunter with his 8-string bass/guitar - HE WAS PLAYING BASS, RHTYTHM & LEAD ALL AT THE SAME TIME! WTH? But I charged on and kept playing. I remember you (I think it was you?) once wrote something in one of your lessons book... in the Forward... something like, "Here's my book of lessons... see you in a year!" THAT made so much sense to me. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! LISTEN, LEARN. I'm now 56 and finally feel I have become a real student, one who listens and I'm practicing! I have been playing my own 2-note (with a few added chords) version of 'My Favorite Things" since I was 16. I've not progressed much on it in 40 years. But now I have a HUGE amount of inspiration to push it to higher levels. So I will scream THANK YOU! to you and... I'll see you in a year! Thanks again for your music. PEACE and HEALTH to you and yours. Stanley
