Russian playing ceased being so Francophile in the 70s and 80s. But then so did French playing.

I like the audio recording, clear soundstage, good low bass reproduction, overall very good. And I like the orchestra, too!

I have a pal in Russia, a violist, and one problem they have now, thanks to Putin tanking their economy, is getting quality strings and replacement parts, pads, springs, etc., for the instruments.

@@willy1486 I can't imagine how difficult it is in Russia right now , but Putin may have thrashed the reputation of the artistic fraternity in Russia, just because they Russian and he is a war mongering psychopath, and sociopath . The arts and their goodness will emerged in full glory when he is hopefully defeated.

I remember hearing Moscow State play Copland's Outdoor Overture around 1980, while on tour in the states. It was pretty impressive. And I don't even like that piece!
