In both capacities, he regularly analyzed developments in Asia, Europe and the former Soviet Union while producing briefs and publications.
More About Speaker, Peter Zeihan . . .
Before becoming a full-time speaker, Peter Zeihan was part of the core team that built the geopolitical consultancy and publishing house Stratfor. In his variety of roles - four years serving as the firm's Vice President of Analysis - he designed products, serviced client needs and managed the firm's analytical teams across all geographic and topical areas of responsibility.
When he isn't speaking to the future of shale energy or Brazilian finance or Russian military strategy or German industry or Indonesian mining or China's political transition, Peter Zeihan is typically working on the draft of his latest book.

So what happened, Peter? Belgium didn't "go down" from debt as you predicted. Neither did Austria nor Spain.
@RJStockton
@RJStockton 4 жыл бұрын
They finally formed a government and raised taxes. Minor austerity and plenty of foreign holdings helped insulate Belgium in ways that other EU countries generally don't enjoy. Belgium has also struck a deal with the EU that essentially allowed it to dip into the common fund as needed to shore up sovereign debt. Most of the country's foreign debt, meanwhile, was held by parties that were also partly owned by Belgian citizens and companies, giving them leverage in negotiations. Belgians also carry very little personal debt in the private sector, relative to the Netherlands and other mortgage-heavy societies, which means there's a lot of fat on the bone in Belgium that buffers against crisis. "Analysts" usually project the things they see coming as happening way faster than they actually happen in reality. Remember that there is always a team of smart people trying to prevent whatever terrible thing you've predicted happening. I just double any timeline I hear from an otherwise reliable source.

Spain totally did. They were at 25% unemployment for a bit there as the economy restructured. It is still a basket case.

@@kapdolkim1914 The slides Peter is talking about. Sometimes we can see part, sometimes he moves on before we got a glimpse. I got frustrated and stopped looking at THIS voideo. I found quite a few other presentations by Peter, best are the "online" ones wher all we see are the slides, no talking head. Because slides are the important part, not the head
