😅 just like us to do the track on the hardest route 😂 makes me feel a bit better knowing how hard it is to spot one. So you remember where abouts you managed to see it? @@PeterandYen It's near where Peter is looking for the takahe in the video 8:27 and on the same side of the track. It's outside the lower gate (spray disinfectant for shoes) of Ecology Trail near the creek. Look for the takahe feeder. Note top gate is on top of the hill where the lambs are. 😊

You must be having a wonderful winter wonderland in The Netherlands now! Hahah but yea we love a good ol' Kiwi summer 😁 We're not sure why places were closed so early, it was a Monday when we went and didn't feel like it was thattt late but it could be coz of covid, that places had closed up earlier or just simply coz they're small towns. Had a really, really stressful morning (still sort of recovering from it) and this video was just balm for the soul. We of course do not have takahe in Europe, but we do have a very common species of bird that looks quite a lot like it: the moorhen (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_moorhen). In fact, we have a pond in our garden that houses a family of moorhens. So if the illusive takahe just keeps on hiding from you, just take a trip to Europe! ;)
@PeterandYen3 жыл бұрын
Oh no Bert!! Sorry to hear that.. I hope today is infinitely better and no more stresses for you! Glad our video could help even if it's just a tiny bit ❤️❤️ Wow they do look pretty similar! I think the moorhen looks closer to a pukeko though. Seems like they're all in the same sort of species. We've seen Takahe in the zoo before but it doesn't count 😅 need to see one in it's own habitat and open environment! They're so cool looking.. kinda dinosaur-ish and great colours. We'll keep trying.. one day it'll happen! 😁

I know people dont like asking these questions but this something that have me not wanting to travel to other countries are new Zealanders friendly towards people from other races or culture who come to their country
@PeterandYen3 жыл бұрын
We reckon us Kiwis (New Zealanders) are generally a really friendly, laid back lot. As long as people are courteous, respectful and kind, that's usually the attitude you get back. Some cities are more multicultural than others (Auckland especially being NZ's biggest city) and some places are way more touristy so it's normal to see different races and cultures (Queenstown, Rotorua, Taupo etc). Unfortunately racism exists everywhere around the world and sadly NZ isn't totally exempt either but honestly it feels wayyy better here than what we've seen of many other countries - plus if you ever come to NZ and bump into Peter or me we'd definitely say hello and welcome with a big smile 😁
