Doesn't matter music style preference, no one can deny that this is a great song.

Its funny. I was a huge Metallica fan in the 80s. When this was released, I felt personally slighted. I smashed over 80 albums (bootlegs, interviews, their released stuff, a lot of $$$ now). I've changed, grown to like/love this album, but a lot of fans hated this initially, very strange, since it's such a great sound + album. The 8 0s, 90s, times were different!
@MultiKamil977 күн бұрын
@@undinism69 Yeah, you grow out of things like these. When I was a huge metal fan, I started hating every band that softened their sound and came to appreciate those albums only years later when I got into my 20s. I just understood that it's hard to make the same music your whole life, at some point you want to experiment, change something. I was like that with vocals. When I started listening more to hardcore, metalcore, deathcore, brutal death metal and slam, I got into very harsh vocals like high screams, growls, gutturals and such and after about 2 years I got bored of it. Started singing clean and it made me appreciate my voice more because only this way I could really showcase it.

Power ballads. Some rock + metal fans don’t enjoy them, but I happen to greatly like such tunes. You get these songs with a lot of feeling + emotion, but they can rock out at the same time. They have a lot of heart. And I appreciate it when artists put the two disparate aspects together. A fusion of fantastic facets.

I haven't watched your channel in a while and I just want to say, "Wow!" I can't put a finger on exactly what I think is different, but I feel as though you're much more relaxed and confident. I loved your analysis of James' voice, and decided to subscribe. I definitely want more of this!

Yes! Thanks for analyzing Metallica! I DID get to see them perform this live in 1992! Man... those were the days... it was an awesome concert with Faith No More, Metallica and Guns N Roses. 😃

@@jenniferjensen8538 I will tell you another concert that was a total blast. Black Crows and Aerosmith. Got to see them both here in Norfolk. This was when Aerosmith had Permanent Vacation album and the Black Crows had their Shake Your Money Maker. Great stuff! Even wilder concert!

I saw them at Milton Keynes in 93 with megadeth the almighty and therapy. One of the first really big gigs I went to and to this day only the ozzfest has topped it.

Yess...also few seem to recognize...but for all the pressure Jason really came through here as a worthy successor to CLiff (Rest In Power) on the bass.

The Unforgiven is not only my favourite metallica song but pretty much my all time no.1 i would love to see your analysis of it.

James Hetfield doesn't have a necessarily really interesting voice or and exemplar singing technique... but he's still so unique. His articulations, phrasings, his "u"s and "so close" and "forevah"s and " yeah"s... everything makes him incredibly unique. He's a great example of how important it is to find out who one is as an artist.

I don't see many people reacting to Nick Cave. Would fit you as a bass singer, very deep rich voice. Henry Lee is a duet with PJ Harvey Into my arms is great Where the wild roses grow is a duet with Kylie Minogue (of all people!) Red right hand Mercy seat Lots of choices

Not sure if you've heard of them, but Apocalyptica has a good instrumental cover of this and many Metallica songs. They are a cello rock band from Helsinki. Their cover of this was my wedding song

The very true on Peter's is the sadly confirmation we don't have music like that anymore. Thanks for highlighting the classics!
@DarkPlaysThings11 күн бұрын
I don't entirely agree. There are plenty of bands nowadays that produce music like this - they just sadly don't receive the mainstream attention they once did. If you search around there are tons of underground / indie bands making fantastic music today, the real shame is that they no longer get the attention from record labels, radio stations and the public that they deserve.

There's a lot of great music around. And this song isn't even that good. I like it, the lyrics and especially the solo. Not the best Metallica song by far. But it had mainstream success.

Okay since we're doing Metallica we need to do Enter Sandman! That is one of my favorites of Metallica's. And also Whiskey in the Jar. This was fun and enjoyed your interpretation of what was going on.

Like many gen x, metallica introduced me to hard rock/metal genre. I never looked back. Specifically their most famous cross over hit, Enter Sandman. Still my favorite for that reason. Master of Puppets is another. Theres so many. Sad factoid: one year a girl went missing when she left the arena and wasnt allowed back in, as per the auditorium rules (not metallica). Tbe band reached out to tbe girls parents and i believe used the platform they had to show her face and get more people looking. It wasnt a happy ending however as they found her body a week or so later, a victim of a serial killer after her murder went unsolved for years. I believe at least as the story goes metallica kept in touch with the family. Their dads too and a class act.

It’s worth seeing how they do this live. Very different between tours, but the approach is generally stripped down and doesn’t rely on backing tracks. Harmonies are supplied by backing vocals from Jason (good) or Rob/Kirk (not as good) and the highlight is always the final chorus into the solo. I don’t love this song, but James makes it work live.

Loved this one! Metallica is probably my favorite metal band of all time. I even have the Metallica star tattoo on the back of my neck. My one and only tattoo. Metallica caught a lot of crap when the black album was released. They had been an absolute favorite metal band for so many and truly pioneered the genre into the mainstream. The black album, Load and Reload were different from any of their previous albums. Ballads on a metal band’s album? Then the band cut their hair and the metal fans went nuts! I would love your reactions to the Metallica videos for “One” official music video and their video of “Enter Sandman, Live in Moscow 1991”, their first open air (free) rock concert held on a military airfield. They headlined with AC/DC when the Soviet Union was dissolved. There were quite a few people in attendance that day… and this video lets you see what 1.6M people look like! I get heart palpitations looking at that crowd!😮
