PACCAR did exactly this for their european brand DAF Im fact they built a whole "experience" with SCS, a special free trial version for test driving the new truck on a scenic route.. Would love to see the same (and the trucks in the game) for the American PACCAR branch as well

Well TBH I don't really care for it. I feel like the resale value will be low and the cost of ownership high. Good as a fleet truck but no fleet truck will be fully spec. I would rather see Peterbilt listen to the folks that drive them rather than the shareholders. I just don't feel like the company is in it for the little guy anymore and have become cold to those of us who want a good partner in our entrepreneurship. You can add new headlights and a couple of new screens. But you can't take away the feeling of being unheard and uncared for. Especially at the service counter. I hope that #peterbilt can prove me wrong and I challenge them to show me what they can do to prove thier claim as the best in the industry.

Petercar is aiming the 579 at big fleets with entry level steering wheel holders. Some experienced guys may spec one for their own use or small fleet, but it probably won't have all the electronic "safety" stuff this bird is hawking. They'll get one because of its looks and interior features.

I wonder if they fixed the awful stereo from the 2020 and older models. It would always freeze up and have to rebooted several times a day!!!! I had a 2020 ultraloft and it was soooooo frustrating!! Glad they fixed those annoying rattling cup holders too!!!!

I'm in the process of moving out of my 2020 and into my 2024. I completely agree about the garbage software of the 2020 579 head unit. I'll find out if they fixed it soon enough. The cup holders are light years better though.

What in the world were you thinking with these mirrors on this new 2022.. They're half the size of the old mirrors They're anchored to the body so you can't move them by opening the door to assist with backing and the passenger door only opens halfway because the mirror is now mounted in the way. Clearly this truck was designed by someone who had no intention of ever driving it.

Question: Is Pacccar EVER gonna make a wide cab like Daimler and Volvo? I Haul milk for a living, so a short wheel base is critical into getting into some of these farm lanes built 100 years ago. With a wide cab, I can get the batteries under the passenger seat which frees up room on the outer rails and allows me to get fuel, hydraulic and DEF equipment there. With a narrow cab, the batteries need to go on the outlet rail, which makes the wheelbase longer. I can get a Western Star 47X with a 166" wheelbase (90/30 gallon split diesel/hydraulic tank and 13 gallon def tank on driver's side and 60 gallon diesel and DEF SCR system on the passenger side). Can PACCAR meet this short wheelbase requirement? Engine trannie setup is a Detroit DD13 525hp with a DT12-V transmission.

I drive them from time to time as a city driver. Volvo automatics are the worst, they will slam the dock and knock everything down in the tractor lol.
