This knife had me worried. But held up fantastically. #coldsteel #coldsteelknives #harduse #batoning #fightingknife #bushcraft #survivalknife #kabar

One thing I'll say about Cold Steel knives, is that in my experience, no matter the steel, they seem to do a great heat treat. I've done things with them that nobody should ever do with a knife, and I've never broken one. A better steel holds an edge better, but none of them have ever broke on me.

I agree. Definitely tuff

I broke an srk by batoning and being stupid by trying to use it as a pry bar. probably a lemon or midwayusa is selling factory second knives now.

I was thoroughly impressed with that batoning process and the following paper cutting test. Well done. D2 steel held up really well. I’ve owned and then sold various Kabar USMC versions over the years. Time to consider the CS D2 Leatherneck SF version. Thanks a bunch!

I've been considering this knife to face off against my old Ka-Bar, but I'm also no fan of hollow grinds. FYI, the Bowie version I have is flat ground.

With kabar’s the tang will break. The cold steel has a tang that is twice as thick

For Cold Steel being foreign made, you wouldn’t think they would be as tough as they are.

Have you seen the video from DBK - Dutch Bushscraft Knives about this knife? They did various tests to see how stable it was. All in all, the knife performed well, but the handle fell off. 🙂

Now you need to get some hardcore oak with knots. Haha. The Kabar D2 Extreme will take this all day. Lol. If it bent like that it won’t do what both the USMC and D2 Extreme will. I like the design of the leatherneck but Kabar did it better.

Frank I knew you'd be here brother lol. I was curious what you'd have to say. I love my Kabars too but I think this Cold Steel is pretty good. The tang looks way better, but I'm not huge on hollow grinds. I might have to get one of these. Your Kabar D2 extreme looks nicer tho for sure, I'd prolly rather have that
