All these guys simply reliving their childhood, which should've never ended as far as I'm concerned.

Props to everyone for flying in less than optimal conditions! Interesting assortment of models, I love the oddball stuff!

Really nicely finished simple jet type based fun models flying in awful wind conditions with great enthusiasm,in this age of high sophistication it is good to remember what basic aeromodelling was about and to be able to enjoy it in this way,the trimming skills involved to get such models to fly is immense but as can be seen with the Lippisch type it paid off in the end,I remember Jetex with its moderate performance but these newer motors seem to have a bit more thrust to them,a combined catapult launch can work well to get them up a bit higher,lets hope that supplies can be found to continue the art of making these profile jets and getting them to fly well,a great montage of a different type of aeromodelling.

Fantastic stuff, the old Jetex lives on

Great stuff ... love it ... if only the weather had been calm ...

I never thought about it, but Jetex went the way of Cox motors. You can still find them on Ebay, fortunately. As far as the fly-ability of these planes, they are "weird little Jetex" craft and they are pretty challenging. Lay off the guys flying them, I betcha they are also into the more mainstream aspects of flying and are just having fun.

Looks like fun. Always wanted to build and fly some Jetex Free flight planes. After flying drones for work, it would be nice to get back to the basics.

I had Jetex engines in the 1960s, they were the only rocket engine at the time. As I recall, you would use two pellets for 14secs burn time, Wonderful stuff!. I’m interested in the Rapier, although present circumstances preclude reliable delivery.

Why is everything so tail heavy?

Those are some perfect sized planes for some UMX bricks and 25mm edf conversions to rc...are they a kit or homemade???

I'd LOVE to know how to get a hold of a modern Jetex unit.

Cg is a bit too far forward. That gives the climbing diving behavior

AAAH! What is powering that since Jetex nosedived and Rapier got nannied???? I'd give my right teste to find out the ingredients ...I have one of the aluminium Jetex motors, various chemicals and would LOVE to know how to make up my own "rapier" powder.
@paulayala48166 жыл бұрын
Probably a good rocket club could help you mix up something. Last event I went out to here in the states, someone was using ground up rubber and some other chemical which didn't have as much thrust but a much longer burn.
@aaronblair95836 жыл бұрын
what powers these models?
@BaddaBigBoom6 жыл бұрын
Rapier motors, disposable cardboard tube versions of the old Jet-X ...effectively slow/cooler-burning rocket motors.

@@BaddaBigBoom Rapiers are no longer available in the US. My little Me163 is sitting in my shop with my last H-1 mounted waiting for a last fling.

...with the noise they make the first thing I would build is a "Buzz bomb" :-)

Jorge Picabea I did, there was a free V1 plan in one of the model aircraft magazines in the UK. As you say it was most realistic especially when the motor finished! www.ffscale.co.uk/rapgal2.htm

@@rehearsalpete7109 Hello Pete, are you guys still flying? I'm 57, ex USAF mechanic living in France, there is no way to get the engines here but I love this hobby. Let me know if you still active, maybe one day I can come to fly with you guys. All the best.

It's sad that people that don't understand the first thing about this type of thing feel the need to comment. Trolls and idiots in abundance here for God's sake grow up!

They have no concept of how hard it is to make a little delta wing plane fly with a spastic Jetex engine.
