Motor peg configuration is a bit of practical genius.

Seams like allot of work each time you want to glide it,

Really cool design and highly impressive, still I think there's more to be done in rubber ducted fan technology

There are better flying models, even smaller, the Japanese seem to be best at this.

That is wonderful....it would be nice if it flew.

Holy shit !! A rubber band powered ducted fan ? Amazing, never even thought you could do that. Well Done !

That small internal prop just doesn't have the HP! But the sound was great! Excellent build and thanks for sharing!!

At least there was ONE rubber powered model that actually flew at the very end of the video. As for the Mig 15 ... I could fold a paper airplane which would stay aloft longer than its best 'so called flight' ... Phooey Ruskie.

Rubber powered ducted fan, now that is really niche.

Not enough thrust for sustained flight.

It will fly further as a pure glider.

It will fly, if he thought it he will .and it functional,the issue is I believe in the size of the plane, bigger may be better.

Cool, now where's the firecrackers?🧨

They need to archive stuff over 3 years old, or just make old stuff not pop up as suggestions. I was looking at red bull air races and this was one of the suggestions at the end of the video. lame. I know no one is going to read this but it makes me feel better writing it :D

with regards to the rubber band powered MiG15, how much thrust did the ducted fan produce? it behaved more like a chuck glider.
@riverlifeva7 жыл бұрын
clearly too little thrust there , intake is too small and the exhaust is too big. I believe the ratio is suppose to be something like 125% air in , 80 % out , this allows more air compression and thrust.
@ZZ430T566 жыл бұрын
Would fly (glide) better without the added weight of the fan and rubber
@chrismofer2 жыл бұрын
@@riverlifeva in EDFs its normal to have a tube behind the fan to sort of focus the flow in the same direction, as it's rather turbulent just out of the fan. But if they taper at all it's pretty gentle, exit maybe 85-90% the size of the intake. Unfortunately moving the fan forward in this would mean less rubberband. Maybe it would work better if reversed so the fan was in the front.

Is that a canvas roof ?

The MiG 15 would probably benefit from flaps due to swept wings.

O José Florentino não costumava andar com o Carlos Costa? Acho que foi ele que me perguntou uma vez se eu tinha um plano do FIAT G-91. Ele pode encontrá-lo aqui. www.ffscale.co.uk/

The fan is constructed from very light, thin balsa sheet for blades and stators, and harder wood (spruce or bamboo, usually) for the struts that hold the blades to the hub. Not an item you can purchase. I've seen rubber ducted fan models that flew better than this; there was a fellow in Seattle who had some that flew more than a minute indoors, launched from standing on the floor. Getting even this level of performance from a *scale* model, though, is better than I'd have thought possible.

The plane is nice, will be great if you add a electronic from plantraco to use to fly it with the mini radio coutroler. You can fly more longer time and more fun, with rubber band power, I think your beautiful mig 15 flay for few second only. You can check www.plantraco.com for more information.
