I think Tom kind of came into his own when Jon Pertwee died. He seemed to be in the shadow of the showman Pertwee when he was alive, but when Pertwee died he realised he was now the elder statesman of Doctor Who and assumed that mantle.

+Matt Maloney I agree. It is so wonderful to see Tom totally embrace Doctor Who again. It has caused me to get back into the show and the classic series again. I am looking forward to picking up some of Tom's audio adventures from Big Finish and will be getting some more of his classic adventures on DVD for Christmas.

Except for Peter Capaldi. He supposedly did Tom Baker impressions a lot on set. Even slipped moments into his actual performance as The Doctor. But yeah, Culshaw is the absolute best as Baker. I hope he continues with Big Finish for a long time. I wouldn't even mind if he played him properly in the show at some point, like David Bradley or Richard Hurndall as The First Doctor.

Tom Baker's Dr Who voice is - it must be - everybody's favourite as it's so fruity but, for me - and I'm sure for many others - his 'actual' accent and way of talking is a delightful revelation. Not in a WTF way, but in a 'This is also my actual real accent', way. If we met, we'd drop the 'well I never' -isms and be 'us'. Tom has a proper old North-End accent, which I can relate to.

She seems to be imitating Matt Smith or David Tenant at times and doesn't bring anything new to the role. People already had a feeling beforehand the writing would suck with all the agendas and Chibnall as the showrunner but the casting has sealed the fate of this as likely the worst run in Doctor Who history.
