We were original owners of a 1986 Accord. The car was built to last. So sad so many were thrown away over simple issues. Those rubber trim pieces around the rear wheel arches alone killed off a lot of car. 😢

@xorakonnabeat I recommend stocking up on any new OEM parts still available. They often come in handy. I have an older BMW that I plan on keeping for a long time. I've been stocking up on trim pieces that are still available.

I must admit, this car seems to be in very good shape for its age. I realize you still have some work that you'd like to do on it, but I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy seeing new videos of this particular model, especially since my late grandparents had a light blue 1989 Honda Accord LX sedan that they had for over 20 years. It wasn't used very much, though, but the interior and exterior were in terrific shape. It was given to one of my cousins before one of the tires wrapped around one of the axles, among other issues. That Accord had just over 137,000 miles before it was sold to a mechanic a few years ago. I think it's still alive and well somewhere, but I don't know. I miss that car so much.

Super cool Accord! Purge the coolant system a few times though. Older Hondas are more sensitive to air pockets and can overheat or have a bouncy idle

Awesome thanks. It does have a bouncy idle but not everytime I stop. That makes sense. Let me know anything else. I’m going to refresh everything over the next year

I had A 1990 Honda Accord EX , I loved the huge windows, very low hood lines and the viability out was awesome!!! I put 197k miles on it and never a single problem!!!!! All the power windows worked, sunroof worked, the power antenna went up and down.. only major service issues were the timing belt and water pump service!!! I have to say I love HONDAS!!!

I agree, the 3rd and 4th gen Accords were definitely a high point for Honda. As ahead of their time as they were even being compared to the German brands, I can't help but wonder what Honda and the other Japanese manufacturers would have built since then if not for their big recession in the 90's.

The double-wishbone suspension was amazing. Sadly, they dropped that in favor of the cheaper (and more compact?) setup almost every car uses today. And that dash is still gorgeous. Congrats on this low-mileage find.

I noticed a lot depends on these cars. Location is a big part. In tampa I almost bought one with 190k miles and carbureted for $3200. This one I talked down to $3k but I took a risk because it sat for a long time. Luckily this one has been very reliable. I would say in good condition lxi automatic under $5k is good and manual ones can go way up depending on condition.

Well first don’t ever sell a car for $500. I got $800 scrap the other week for a stripped down car and about $2k for parts I sold right away. Always sell parts and help someone save their car or sell as a whole car minimum $1200. People will tell you it’s worth nothing because they want to make money on it
