My first year of playing I bought a putter that I knew had won numerous majors (Ping). Ever since then I’ve known if I’m putting badly then it’s me and not the putter. Never bought another putter since. It’s always ME. The money I’ve saved over the years I’ve blown on ale and hookers.

I love Bryson's unconventional approach to the game. The fact that he gets such good results doing it "his" way when so many "experts" would say it wouldn't work is refreshing. #swingyourswing
@seanosullivan77694 жыл бұрын
Well tbf “his” way gets to all the same main points the the experts say, he just designed a way that makes it very easy to get to those points and he practiced enough to make it extremely repetitive. He also has a physics degree to back up what he does too

i purchased a couple of years a jo prototype slant neck putter from my golf shop. they always support small company golf companies. i saw a review online on them and did my research on them. the putter was listed at $675. nobody purchased them for months. so the golf shop dropped them to $275. sold! great roll, and had it in the bag for 2 years. i still go back to it, when i have putting problems. using the toulan altanta , now.
@benoitglazer87724 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, Actually, several companies have variable loft on their putter face, they just call it radial roll face, or similar names. Not exactly the same one might say, because those (I built myself a radial Roll a while back) have continuously variable loft (basically like a driver head), as opposed to the 4 sections of the sik putter. Bobby Grace had this design, and a few other companies (Bell, etc...) I quite liked my Radial Roll, but eventually went for a evnroll, because I preferred the weight of it. Keep up the great work, I love your videos.

It Totally is anchoring, not sure why they let it pass as compared to the long putters. Kuchar would be lost without it. As soon as a bunch of young players come on tour using it and light up the greens the USGA will change their minds and ban it.

I’ve turned my Axis1 Rose putter into an armlock putter and it feels great. I’m actually hitting the sweet spot more then I did at 34”. You have to practise and learn the best position for the ball, but in terms of Mr Finch saying his arms feel tense, that’s through not using it for a period of time. You learn that you can lock it with just the left arm only and put your right hand on very lightly and use it as a guide.

So I've gone Odyssey armoock during lockdown. Not quite the same but similar. Have to say I feel great with it but a word of warning it has taken me 12 weeks of lockdown putting everyday at home and the first 4 weeks of playing again to get any sort of settled technique. I think it works but boy does it take work!
@745theone4 жыл бұрын
I have actually used Arm Lock Putters when I've been struggling with my normal putter. There was a company called "ArmLockGrips" and they made a fat grip that added loft to belly putters. I had a 2 ball belly I chopped down and a Marxman X Metal with those grips on and I LOVE THEM!!! I don't think I ever made more 5-8 foot putts in my life when I needed them. I think Arm Locking is a great way to practice, gain confidence and just putt better.

After 30 years of playing, got the case of the yipps! Used traditional, lead hand low, and even tried the claw for a bit but nothing seemed to be consistent until I went to the arm-lock method! I changed to armlock after being a very poor putter. Can say it takes along time to get use to but if you stick with it's a lot simpler. Less moving parts and completely changed my putting to make it the strongest part of game. Dropped my handicap considerably with none to 1 3 putt a round

Aren’t Evnroll putters doing something similar with left to right strikes instead of low and high/ascending descending? The idea is that off center strikes, within reason, travel as far as center strikes.
@stephenholbrook59084 жыл бұрын
I’m a huge Bryson fan. I even play one length clubs. Everything Bryson does with his swings is intended to imitate (as closely as possible) what swing machines do. Everyone gauges consistency in clubs based on the results from swing machines that have no variation in swing. So, he does all he can with his equipment and technique to swing just like the machines.

Does it not have the same intent as anchoring a long putter?
@M.Westen4 жыл бұрын
I would not use it personally, while I understand the value of consistancy in your motion will allow for a more uniform stroke, I can't help but wonder if it comes at the cost of feel. I have not tried the setup so I would not know for sure, but similiar to other aspects of golf such as fitting, where the look (Confidence) and feel of a club sometimes takes presedence over a raw calculated approach based in metrics alone, I think locking out all range of motion from a swing with a putter might have many players uneasy with the feeling of the stroke.

Hey Peter, great channel. Thanks! I certainly believe you will see more touring pros and therefore more amateurs getting cozy with this putting style in the days and years to come. We've already seen this style adapted by (of course, the original "arm-locker") Kuchar but now also we've seen Bubba play events with this style, Webb Simpson, Charl Schwartzel, David Drysdale, Jazz Janewattananond, and many more.
@tylerjonmorrison44144 жыл бұрын
...also, I'll check back in with you and Rick in the next few months and perhaps build you each an arm lock putter but to your specs: perhaps something 69°-72° lie and 2°-3° forward shaft lean with an elongated pistol grip, and you'd be surprised at how comfortable this style can feel.
@daddymatty58694 жыл бұрын
The stance and arm position look like a continuation of his swing with driver & irons. Consistency with swing is def his thing & this falls right in step with his ideas of reducing as many variables as possible... sounds great but I'm still not dropping $700 on a club

A friend of mine does archery. He told me that; over the years the technology of arrows and bows have advanced enormously. However, it seems that it is the person using the bow that still makes the difference of who make the olympic team. It is the archer, not the arrow, that matters.

The beauty of armlock is that it makes it nearly impossible to push or pull a putt. It eliminates that variable. All the golfer needs to focus on is alignment and speed. Distance control will come naturally as you practice more and more with armlock and get comfortable with it. So, in the end, you only need to focus on aim. Being able to eliminate variables like that in golf has got to be an advantage, especially under pressure.
@Dan_Kornfeld4 жыл бұрын

@theelmagoo4 жыл бұрын
So if you combined this face with the Evnroll face, ultimate putter? Also every time you missed a putt on the circle drill, you stand up, look to the side, and scratch the side of your nose. :) Bryson's style of putting is an interesting one, but my question would be how much is he focused on the mechanics / muscles / internal feelings, as opposed to being task focused (just thinking about putting the ball down the line with the right tempo)? I know my putting goes to poop when I start focusing on things like "just use the shoulders... keep the arms locked" etc.... My putting dramatically improves when I just focus on tempo of stroke, and then focus on hitting through the ball down the start line (so nothing internal, just the putter head going all the way through the ball to avoid any chance of decelerating). Basically I'm focused on a task and letting my brain do the work. Bryson looks so locked up and stiff that it doesn't allow his brain to make the subtle corrections needed to perform the task.

I’ve tried the arm lock, with the bettinardi kuch model and just couldn’t do it. It’s way to rigid and I feel like there is no feel in the stroke. Obviously most if not all people will say the wrist “should” be completely locked in which for the most part I agree, but that little bit of hinge/lag in the stroke I feel gives you a tag edge on touch outside of 10’. Most will say well if you can’t make a 5 footer you won’t score and this is true, but if you can’t get a 10/15/20/30 footer inside of 3’ you’ll be struggling to walk off with your par a lot more than I’d like. That’s why I have two putting strokes lol sounds dumb but it works, inside of 15’ super rigid and locked in. Outside of 15’ an open stance more flow (y) stroke for feel not so focused on line but speed 🤙🏻

Not a new idea for me. I just didn't have the Golf media following my every move back in the late 90's. I had issues with my left wrist breaking down and getting 'flippy', so I held the putter further down the grip and had the end of the grip about 4 inches above my left wrist against my forearm. (Another reason I can't wear a watch while playing) Returned my stroke to a one piece takeaway and follow through and started making more putt almost immediately.

I think a testing session isn’t going to do this thing justice. It’s a question of if you buy into the theory and take the time to practice and adjust your muscle memory to how the putter feels and train the gross motor movements of your shoulders to do the work and develop the touch for the speed control you need. Choosing the line doesn’t change.
