The language Grant uses is a big part of what helps. He has obviously been around some great teachers of the game, not only is he very positive and re-enforcing the little wins, but things that golfers can hear to create the result he's aiming for - hitting the inside of the golf ball, explaining why a draw with irons is more useful than a fade. All great stuff

I watched a video of Adam Scott during a practice session. The guy shooting it asked Adam what he works on with his coach. He said they primarily worked on alignment, standing the same distance from the ball every time, and tempo. Crazy.

More of this. This was very interesting. The aim alignment thing was exceptionally cool to see feel vs reality. I also like how it only took a few swings for Pete to change and still hit it so pure. I was having issues chipping the ball last year, could not figure it out. Normally really good. One guy watching me says "You're dipping". Instant light bulb moment. Some times it just takes a nice trained eye to fix small things.

Wow… as a dad who spends money on kids lessons and not my own anymore. I have been fighting toe strikes for a little while. I do play a fade and get steep, a lot like Pete (just left handed). I practice this uncomfortable into out swing just to keep that movement when needed.. I have never considered my fade causing my toe strikes because of path like that. Honestly thank you both - off to the range.

Hi Grant. I hope you read this. I'm 68 and watch all your videos. The nicest thing besides your exceptional golf is your personality. From what I see is such a cheerful , caring man. Pete is such a skilled golfer but he got locked in that left to right trajectory so much it needed draw biased Grant to put him back at the right track again. And as a golf coach I love Grants take at Pete's problem. Very well done.

For notorius faders of the ball with pull tendencies in order trap it from inside for draw you have to shift your body more towards target in downswing before you start to rotate. And adapt to a slightly stronger grip or bow your wrist more. Sight of line can be deceiving. That's because for most people, if they turn their head towards target, their eyeline is not parallel to target anymore but left of it (righthanders). Make the experiment: ask a random group of players where they think they aim at, in 95% it's much more to the left than actual orientation is. Solution: turn your head differently or just trust your aim from behind the ball and don't look at the target anymore once over the ball.

Peter has a classic technical swing. I was having a problem hitting draws and 7 yard hooks. A friend looked at me hit 3 balls, adjusted me from closed shoulders and immediately went back to straight balls. Personally I don’t like to work approach shots with fades and draws. I would rather ge the distance right and aim straight. But I rarely attack pins except when playing scrambles.

This is good stuff. I draw the ball as my natural flight.... but for whatever reason I keep hearing Trevino in my brain "you can talk to a fade but a draw wont listen) and I try to fight that natural draw- which then leads to getting steep and wipey fades. Ugh. Gotta just align myself right of target, ensure all the basics are covered before the club goes back and think "rotational high draw". Then away we go. Liked that alot. Thx lads.

Great video, guys. I’ve been watching this recent set and believed those bladed irons were just too difficult to strike consistently, Pete, but it now seems it was a basic alignment issue. Interesting. So cool how you were able to take instruction and implement the change in such a short period of time. The difference between a PGA Pro and the great unwashed I guess.

Pete, you're such an amazing golfer. Your striking is impressive. When you watch the video, I hope you notice the blue alignment lines they imposed on the screen. That alignment aid on the ground was actually aimed a tiny bit left of the flag. I really like the new swing. Mis-hits won't be as penalizing. My instructor many years ago said something that never left me. After getting my slight draw, just like you just did, he said "do that 1,000 times and it's yours". Too bad I only did it 999 times because I blade the ball so much now it's not fun. That is probably the main reason your striking is so impressive... Pete, just do it 1,000 times. It will be muscle memory and automatic under pressure.

@marccutirella You don't have to go to the gym to be good at golf. Grant has been more time on the course than most with all these new colabs but that eats up time for travel obviously. I think Grant has what it takes already if he wanted to grind nonstop for a gamble to be a low end pro. I think he prefers KZbin and having more time for his gf/family. If Micah chilled out on the weights and put that time in on his short game he'd be much better.
