Bryson's golf advice is gold. A proper instructor works with the individuals body mechanics and tendencies to build a good swing, and not try to make the individual conform to what is perceived to be the "ideal swing".

@ElliottEats10 ай бұрын
100% Regular golfers don't have hundreds of hours to practicing the ideal golf swing. A lot of golfers have to work with what they got, and what is comfortable. A good coach will take a golfers natural swing, implement some adjustments, and make their contact more consistent. Unless you are truly training for a competition or something, a golf lesson is supposed to help simplify your game and make it more fun. Too many average and below-average golfers bogged down by unnecessary swing thoughts.

I went to golf tech in 2013 and spent $1100 for them to try and get me to swing like Robert Allenby and After the 6 months of lessons I quit golf for almost 2 years it got so bad!!!! The Pro wouldn't listen to me when I said I AM NOT ROBERT ALLENBY and I can not swing this way , and they told my I would never get better if I didnt get all my bad habits gone ! Well they were WRONG and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT GOING TO GOLFTECH!!!!!
@jazzt383910 ай бұрын
Love his advice, and it’s something that my coach has preached about to me. Everyone has their own swing, and no matter how much coaching and drills you get you’ll always regress by some measure of a percent back towards your natural tendencies. During practice sessions I work on a really exaggerated in-out swing path not to actually affect the path, but because it keeps my right leg from spinning out early. Other than that, the only swing thought I ever take to the course is exactly what Bryson said early on - giving myself more time at the top. It’s amazing how the simplest things can make a difference massively.

Every video I watch of your coaching is so amazing how you help with such confidence but also with humility. When I've gotten lessons I've always gotten worse from the beginning which makes it difficult to trust the teacher. I also appreciate that you didn't say Min Woo said anything wrong, but added to his teaching with something more valuable. I swear with my athletic background growing up and through school, after watching Bryson’s tutorials, Garrets, Micah’s, Grant Horvat, and Rick Shiels I have gone from not ever playing golf to getting out to the driving range every chance I can, and when I can’t I still just go to a over grown but still occasionally mowed baseball field that’s near by and I practice my 60 degree wedge shots over there with real and foam balls, I’ll stay out for hours or until my girlfriend tells me dinner is ready. You guys and your content, especially you Bryson, just inspire me to use my understanding and good athletic coordination to break down the shots in nerdy ways and pull off some absolutely pure, intensely blissful moments. I just played my 3rd round of golf this time I took my GF and her daughter to a public fairly undulating terrain for NE (Spring Lake Golf Course), and I actually managed a birdie on two nice par 4’s and I just couldn’t be happier and more driven to get better and help my family get better with me.

Speaking of timing LOL, the timing of this video is great. I’ve had to take a couple months off from golf because of moving across the country. Getting back into it and I’m super steep and fast in transition. Was looking back at some of my old swings and I found one video where I paused at the top for maybe a second and then went. Flushed a 4 iron in that video. So I’m also working on a slower takeaway and slight “gather at the top” before I transition. Not a full on Hideki pause but just chill out instead handle drag from the top. Great video and love the way you teach Bryson :) Loved the “don’t BS me” part

Brilliant Bryson, I have been teaching for over 40 years and the one thing I emphasize with all players I try and help is the same thing.... My number 1 issue as well. That split second at the top has always proven to line things up for me. The one big caveat with the comfortable swing is the basics. As you said. Many people hate the idea of PGA professionals teaching swings because there’s so much variation… but at the roots there are things that will provide good results, and you have to hammer those basics home until they’re second nature… then get comfortable with a new swing idea to further increase accuracy/distance/whatever

The timing is allowing the hip to rotate which allows the club face to square and/or close just a tiny bit. That rotation is what generates power. Result is a baby draw, straight shots. Great listening skills by Bryson. Garret has a pretty good swing, but that lesson before Bryson jacked him up. Also, tailoring the golf swing to what works for a person is on point. Got to work with what works for you. Keep grinding, Garret. You’ll be in the game in no time.
