Hey , great journey. We are contemplating building on our lot in northern Placencia. To keep an eye on the construction, a remote idea is to bring the SprinterVan and live by the construction site to oversee. I cannot get any info about Diesel fuel availablity through Belize and especially into South Belize? Can u shed light on that please . thanks
@Famagogo24 күн бұрын
Hello, Sounds like a great option. Diesel is available in Belize. There usually is only one type, and it isn't generally labeled for any quality standards, just "Diesel". We used the best fuel we could find, but it's often unknown if it's ULSD. We had no issues. You can get DEF just over the border in Mexico. We didn't need it in Belize, so we didn't look very hard. I see the biggest consideration with your plan is having air conditioning in your van. It is brutally hot there, and life in the van is miserable without AC. We had it in ours, and it made it bearable, but our traveling companion's AC was broken, and he had a few very miserable hot nights. Having a reliable power connection would be vital to keeping the AC running long-term.

a quick check of the panamerican hwy and it is on the pacific side of central America, what route did u take to Belize in the east, u had to go through Guatamala?
@Famagogo24 күн бұрын
Hi Again, The Pan-American Highway itself is a path that most travelers vaguely follow. We spend a lot of time deviating from it to see exciting places. One example is Belize. We toured the Yucatan crossed into Belize from the north, and exited into Guatemala to continue to Panama and South America. If you join our Patreon, we offer complete field guides with a map of our path and fun places and camps along the way. You might find our Mexico field guide helpful. This will take you to the border of Belize.

I'm driving to Belize in January thrue Mexico. I didn't think they let you bring knives in ?
@Famagogo5 ай бұрын
We were never asked about knives at the border, and we had kitchen and camping knives onboard. We saw locals walking around with lar. We also saw mange machetes throughout the country. It might not be a good idea to carry a large pocket knife in cities, as many people do in the USA, but I wouldn't worry too much about it in your vehicle if it's stashed away in the back.

We were planning on driving our diesel motorhome to Belize but I heard mexico has limited low sulfur diesel and Belize didn't have low sulfur diesel. I assume you're vehicle needs low sulfur diesel as well, are finding it in Belize?
@Famagogo5 ай бұрын
We have just been using the fuel we find at major brand stations. We will change fuel filters a little more often.
@kellyeckman75385 ай бұрын
It's my understanding that it voids your warranty as well and can cause issues with your emissions system like the DPF. It would be a bummer to be stranded in a foreign country with vehicle problems.

Nah man I'd do a coconut curry. In high school in Hawai'i me an some baddas made water bongs out of the shell. Dry them out and remove the meat . Then polish them down. Almost like Koa wood. 3 holes in the top. Bamboo in the bigger one and a stem in one carb in the other. Hawai'i natural high bought a few... good times... curry folks. Curry.

Wife and I were in Peace Corps Belize '09 to '11. Was disappointed you didn't mention culture or people. Just Americans doing American. And we have a Revel, which we leaned toward in part because of your white washed videos. Winnebago assembles parts from a variety of mfgs, puts their name on it and stands behind none. Keep looking the other way. It must pay well.

I'm glad you got to spend some time down in Belize. It was really HOT and humid as you know. Belize isn't set up for living in a van or RV, and we were only there for a week because of that. We found there to be the wealthy gringo areas and impoverished local areas. Not really anything in between. We stopped in a few local areas and didn't feel welcome or safe, so we moved on. I didn't want to paint the picture that Belize wasn't safe to visit, as we mostly felt very safe there. But this is why we didn't show the parts you mentioned. Was it different when you were there? After all, I am creating a simple travel vlog, and we won't be able to show anything more than what we see and do. I don't know of any RV, van, or Overland vehicle builder that manufactures all the parts of their vehicles. Heck, even Mercedes gets parts from many other suppliers. Over the years, I've documented many of our breakdowns (axle in the Arctic) and fixes (turbo hose in AZ). Look back on my channel to see these and more. I don't think I'm whitewashing anything. I have sincerely loved my Revel/Sprinter. But I also know that everything mechanical breaks, and I'm ready to fix it however I need to. This could be me on my back in the mud on the side of the road with circling Brown Bears (Arctic) or at a comfortable Winnebago or Mercedes shop. If you have issues, message me directly, and I can try to share some solutions I've found. There are also tons of online groups for all things Sprinter and Winnebago. We are all happy to help. Thanks for watching!
