Great video and information! So I had a question about this lifestyle and kids. Was Abbey affected by the constant travel and not being rooted to location when she was younger? Did she have issues with having/making friends and connecting with people?
@Famagogo10 ай бұрын
That could be a whole video and we gat asked that a lot. But no. She now has real friends all over the world. With much more personal connections that she ever had with kids in her school. She is really great at connecting with people and communicating and this is directly skills she has developed from her unique lifestyle and travel. Like I say this could be a whole video topic. Maybe it should be...

With all those kayaks on top, do you not have solar charging? Or do you just drive so much you rely on the alternator charging?
@Famagogo10 ай бұрын
I love solar and have relied on it for years. But, as you noticed, the kayaks block a lot of what is possible. Then Starlink took the last spot on my roof where I had solar. I have the Roam Rig 650ah upgrade with the 250A alternator. This 2nd alternator pumps power into my batteries so much faster than solar can. It's great as long as we drive for an hour or so every 3-4 days. I might put a pannel back on for going to South America as I'll have fewer kayaks. I do sometimes carry a Zamp Portable panel. That helps when we park for multiple days.

My wife and I have owned our Revel since May 2023. Our only thing is sleeping. Did ya’ll change out the stock mattress and does it take some time to get used to sleeping in a small space? Other than than sleeping we absolutely love it. Btw our “handle” is Goynder.
@Famagogo10 ай бұрын
I know you're feeling, If you're coming from a normal larger bed it can seem a little small at first. I find it takes a few nights to get re-accustomed to sleeping in a new space wether its a tent, van or hotel. But we did upgrade to the Canyon Adventure Vans Revel mattress and it makes a massive difference. They offer a few options. Check out their website for the latest info. canyonadventurevans.com/product/luxury-van-home-mattress-made-for-the-revel/ They make all sorts of other cool products. Tell Jason we sent you and you want to know about the mattress we have. He will set you up. Awesome folks.

Did you make any modifications to insulation in your van so that you could continue to travel in cold climates? - I'm thinking around the water tank, or externally around the exposed plumbing, etc. Thanks in advance!
@Famagogo10 ай бұрын
Hello, I did add a little thinsulate to the rear doors. I typically spend a little time in the cold each year. It was just 11 degrees the other night. But normally when it get that cold it's time to head south. With a little added insulation the Revel can do pretty well in the cold. We love our Timberline diesel heater. It will roast you out of the van on the coldest nights.
@catherines.295510 ай бұрын
Thank you for the reply! So all your plumbing is working in 11 degrees as long as you run the Timberline, that makes sense. What about underneath the van? Any freezing issues/ concerns there? Thank you! @@Famagogo

Most of the new RVs now took that into consideration, I know Revel is doing so, call them to make sure.@@catherines.2955

Absolutely love learning more about you guys! My wife and I joined the vanlife community about 18 months ago and it’s been life changing. When my wife’s job took us to Utah, I said goodbye to my banking career and now work remotely for Agile Off Road - thanks for the shout out! Hopefully our paths will cross at some point. Btw… we are Terrain4x4Adventures and we did a similar video a couple months back. Safe travels!

Great info to get to know you two! Thanks. My wife and I are waiting for our first van to arrive and begin building it. Unfortunately it’s not a Revel. We went with the Ford Transit Trail as it was a little more affordable and we’ll be doing the build. Does your daughter also have a KZbin channel? Sounds like it would be another great adventure channel. Thanks again for sharing your story. BTW, we also live in ColoRADo!

Hey that's great your van is in the works. Ford is onto a really great platform with the Transit Trail. This is a really awesome way for people to get the bases covered then build the rest. It's going to be great! Abby does have a YT channel. She's only done a few videos. But they are great. I hope she will do more in the future. www.youtube.com/@adventurous_miss Thanks for watching and maybe our paths will cross in ColoRADo!

Question for ya…. What advice would you give someone starting out living the nomadic lifestyle?
@Famagogo10 ай бұрын
Hello Fred, This could be a whole video (maybe it should be). Most important. Be debt free, Find a source of income you can do while traveling. Get a comfortable living space be it van, RV, truck camper, etc, and think of it as a lifestyle not a vacation. Keep it slow and spontaneous with an exciting rough plan/itinerary. Set your self up for the type of travel you want to do in the places you're most excited about. This is a great question that I should do a whole video on. Thanks.

Great video! Would you drive a different van today? Would you build a custom build?
@Famagogo10 ай бұрын
Thanks! I don't think so. Nothing in the US market has the blend of comfort, reliability and offroad performance and parts as the 144" Sprinter 4x4. It's fun to dream about a custom build but our Revel is 90% of what we want it to be. So I'm not sure if what I would change on the inside. Just small tweaks that we have already done to make it perfect. But someday I'll have a Unimog....
