video helped a lot. It feels good not getting yelled at by an old lady on BBO.

I enjoy your bridge videos, Peter. Just watched the 5 minute bidding video. Any chance you could make your charts clearer? I can barely make out what they are showing .....

Pete, can I get that chart in your video?

Nice and helpful video. Just want to point out a terminology error at about 4:58 minutes when Pete says "if you are the responder, partner of the Overcaller". Shouldn't this be partner of the Opener? Partner of the Overcaller is the Raiser.
@BridgeWithPete4 жыл бұрын
I think partner of the overcaller is the advancer - but either way there is ambiguity so I sometimes just simplify it but yes your right.
@amitabhdes4 жыл бұрын
@@BridgeWithPete Thanks Pete. Yes advancer is the term.

The chart shows "longest Minor" for both 12-14 pts and 18-19 pts. Should 18-19 pts be "longest Major Suit"?

Sorry, I’m not convinced. I gave up trying to learn the game because there are literally none of you bridge teachers out there who were sincerely willing to take in someone who learns differently (me, an autistic) and give him the classroom environment and no-nonsense lectures he needs to retain information. The game is dying precisely because you’re treating people who want to learn as not welcome, which is why the ACBL has flatlined at 150,000 members (and dropping fast) and millions have decided the game is not for them. I moved on to the more welcoming environment that chess and Riichi mahjong provide, and I will never go back.

Try learning WHIST If you learn the simple strategies of playing whist as a partner game , you are half way to learning bridge Learn to understand the basics of bidding , and I mean REALLY understand, because moving on to more complex aspects before you are ready is what puts people off the game I speak as one who knows Good luck

@@johnbell-yn5xe That's not happening either. Show me someone who is willing to make a sincere effort to teach using a whiteboard only, and MAYBE you can convince me to try again. Don't get your hopes up.

I have played chess for 60 years ( on and off ) so what's the difference between patiently learning strategies for chess and bridge Have you not investigated ... Bridge for kids on youtube The advantage of these vids are 1) no stress 2) none judgemental 3) can be stopped , rewound back to the beginning enough times until some understanding is grasped 4) simple language Persist , in my club , there are people who only decided to learn to play bridge when elderly , swore that it wasn't for them , but persisted and now play in the big room with the far more experienced players

@@johnbell-yn5xe I learn differently. Physical whiteboard lessons to learn bridge are non-negotiable with me. That's where it starts and where it ends, period, full stop.

I really tried to watch this video, but your manner of speaking - the 'fading out' of your voice towards the end of your sentences - such as at 2:48, 4:13, 4:18, etc - makes it more difficult to follow than it should be. I find I have to rewind often just to hear what you said clearly, as the voice volume varies up and down so much. But I appreciate the effort to put this together as your graphics look good and seem very detailed. Suggestion - try and focus on speaking a bit slower and not 'tailing off' at the end of your sentences.

you lost me on the points. How do you know if you have 12 points? How are points counted.
@BridgeWithPete11 ай бұрын
points are just a way of evaluating how good your hand is. The normal way of doing this is giving yourself four points for any aces, three for any kings you have, two for any queens, and one for any jacks.

If you have to explain the bidding system to your opponents why not just speaking your HCP and suit count? I think it doesn't make much sense in a competivite sport
