This song is so bitter sweet. This is definitely good for anything from a retirement party to a funeral. I can see someone sitting at a bar surrounded by friends. Someone who's dying or going on a last long, potentially dangerous journey. I could even see this going with Lord of the Rings!! Amazing version!! Best one I've heard!

This is the last song my mother, Goldie Selzer, listened to on her mp3 player. I just found her mp3 player last night, and when I turned it on, this song was on loop. It brought a whole new depth to this song for me. Mom always liked Peter Hollens as well as The Hound + The Fox. You guys were right up there with Tim Foust and Home Free in my mom's book. Peter's son at the end of the vides, after the song, points out the horses running in the background. This brought this song, video, and performance even closer to me because the last two weeks Mom's life were filled with dreams of horses. Thank You!

I sang this Jim Cole song (kzbin.info/www/bejne/m36UiJaantl5fNU) for my dad's funeral--not the easiest thing to do, is it?, but you're right; I had the same response to this version of The Parting Glass; I want it to be part of MY funeral! What a great way to convey love to friends, like the last two lines of Shakespeare's Sonnet 29, which I would like in the program or on a tombstone if one actually happens: "For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings That then I scorn to change my state with kings."

I love this version of it. I actually adapted your a capella version you did of the version from Assassin's Creed, and made it mostly fit my vocal range. My dad cried while he played the keyboard and I sang it slowly and softly. And boy, my first time staying at a hostel and enjoying happy hour was made all the better with it. I like how this one is closer to what I've joined in singing at the end of a fun-filled music session in a pub. Solemn but a fitting end to a get-together of musicians and old family friends. I plan to attend some on my own now that I'm over legal drinking age and no longer have school to require an early night.
