I feel like it would be a good thing to describe to your audience the difference between a "photo edit" and a "photo manipulation" or "composite image." Most of your "edits" would actually be considered professional composites. Really great job on them. Changing the green to yellow on the jacket really made such an impact. I just think people learn better when they learn the differences in the options you have to edit and still call something a "photo." I use Davinci Resolve professionally and basically manipulate the heck out of images to suit my taste... but there is a difference between a "color grade" and a "composite" in cinematography. In fact, I feel like im forced to composite so much in the film/video marketing world that I prefer my still images un-composited and only edited as if I were using a film-develop-print workflow vs a digital. Maybe you can address the differences sometime? I think it helps people's process and perspectives to know the different options and why someone might choose to NOT composite a photo. Great video, great compositing and re-touching. Cheers!

I feel like some people in the comments need to chill. This video is not about him making the photos "better" or anything. He's just showcasing a lot of amazing pictures from all over the world and then has fun editing them and giving them different vibes and expressions. If you think he "ruined" the images, he didn't. He just had fun and made them his own and there's nothing wrong with that. There's also nothing wrong with having an opinion, as art is subjective. This was a really fun video btw, it just suddenly popped up in my suggested feed. Great job, my dude.
@jaymabry12775 жыл бұрын
Please remember that those are just opinions and they need to be respected. I havent seen any comments that werent just constructive criticism and also didnt complement the artist afterwards. Geode Please remember that the person said that there was nothing wrong with having an opinion, and you can see it in their comment. Photography is so subjective. In my view the majority of people way over-edit in post. They spend more time at home trying to correct obvious mistakes than getting it right in-camera at time of taking the shot. Bringing back detail in shadows and slightly increasing contrast and increasing/decreasing saturation are normal to boost an already good image. But sometimes, such as Pete's vision of transforming the 12:56 original into a heavily edited 14:00 image, actually turns a decent shot into a bad one. Also the very heavy crop choices, such as in the landscape shots, really seem at odds with good composition as well as losing image quality. The complete changes of colour (and often unneeded changes) in my view is more akin to painting than photography. But when all is and said and done, the way we capture the original image or edit them, is all down to personal choice. And as Peter mentioned, this was how "he" likes to edit images, so was the correct choices for himself... and above all, he was having fun! Enjoy your photography everyone. :)
@homimatcha5 жыл бұрын
U sir, spoke out my words!

I don't get it being an art form being able to use a program that someone else has created to manipulate images instead of creating their own. A camera takes an image of what's in front of it. A program can manipulate this image. It can take years to create an actual masterpiece, ten minutes in lightrooms, photoshop etc creates a five second "wow" then its forgotten. Don't misunderstand me, the images created from manipulation are really rather good to see, however they will not last in the mind.

Just some constructive criticism: the photo which the mountain came from had its light source coming from the right side of the photo. The original photo has the light source from the left. So in the final edit, there are 2 different sources of light.

Your editing skills are really good and your aesthetic is legit, it just happens to be one I hate. To my taste, everything looks too processed, too HDR-ish and you always overkill it with the color grading. I feel like you completely 'missed the point' on many of these photos (especially the last few ones) and ended up with conceptually (and even stylistically) lower quality photos. Nevertheless, I still really like your vids, you seem like a really cool guy and I'm gonna stick around for more. Subbed.
@xJonnaax5 жыл бұрын
Vladimir Pavlović some of the photos were really colourful and that made them good photos. He just doesn’t seem to like colour and is more in favour of a gritty vibe. I agree with you that he has great skill and I also agree with you that some of his choices were not the right one. XD
@butternutbitches59035 жыл бұрын
I didn't like most, especially girl with mountain (lol), overkill on some things as you mentioned, and like cropping most things into a portrait, why does he hate landscape most of the time....But this is just my personal thoughts, he definitely has his own style, skill with filters and making things pop. Me thinking I liked some a lot better before with their character, is a subjective.
@melbournemeliodas2155 жыл бұрын
Can you show us what you mean? Like a video. I have no idea what you are talking about. I just found this video today.
@humphreybutterclump87425 жыл бұрын
Exactly. One of the best qualities of photography is that it can transport you to a place or really make you emotionally connected to the subject. Few of these photos really did that, they were far too stylized and favored unnecessary editing over emotion. Just not a fan.
@mattnorris71245 жыл бұрын
@@butternutbitches5903 The 4x5 cropping is done for posting on social media apps to maximise the screen real estate used while still being able to read the captions, it's not so much to do with him not liking landscape. It definitely does make the photos stand out more when you're scrolling through a feed because you just go through a load of square photos or ones that are odd dimensions and then you just hit this big "bang wow, now that's a photo" and it really draws your attention. I feel as though he has a very different style of framing and cropping for other things, but the reasoning behind the 4x5 cropping for social media is brilliant.
