Brother I can’t tell you how much this was worth to me! Seriously I’m sitting here in my car on break with my little shitty Yi M1 $400 camera with a Rokinon Cinema 24mm on it, feeling all the dejection in the world, and mind you I’m no spring chicken. I found myself thinking “what the hell am I doing?” You’re too old to want this or too poor to afford a camera with which you can do some real work...blah blah blah on and on. And then I watched this. Seriously man, this video nearly brought me to tears, not that I’m easily given to tears, but it was just a confluence of forces and timing. You literally just brought me out of an abyss my brother. Thank you for all of your wonderful videos and lessons. You do more good than maybe you know. Many many Thanks, William

I am a firm believer that skill or creativity is much more important than fancy equipment- don’t get me wrong nice equipment is great but if you give it to someone with no skills/creativity/eye for composition they won’t be able to do much with it. So don’t worry about your camera for now, just keep practicing!
@williamodd4 жыл бұрын
Update: I took all your comments to heart....the kind ones that is. I kept rocking out with my Yi M1, working on my eye and composition. Something began to develop, slowly at times but sometimes in leaps and aha moments. That “shitty” little camera became my teacher and fostered in me a deeper love and respect for the art. I travelled with it and even did a few jobs with it. I am now using an EOS R and could not be happier with it. I am gradually building and refining my portfolio, and editing a short film and loving every moment of it. Funny thing is though: my favorite Photo was taken with my M1 😂. I’ve since gifted my niece with it and so her journey begins...but I miss my little Yi M1. Seriously speaking, thanks Peter, you rock brother and thank all of you for relating, for sharing and for all the encouragement. Stuff like this creates little pockets of awesome in this world.🙏🏽

To break that ceramic mask that you wear everyday as a facade of “this is who I am”, but really is a prison for your creative soul. It was pretty simple to get the hang of, there are some great tutorial walkthroughs you can watch. I'd still consider myself a beginner with it though because in the past 2 months I have been focusing most of my attention on learning photoshop

photos in my local photography group like this. I would never comment to discourage people, but I have seen many black and white/sepia watermarked images of dumpsters and brick walls and they make me cringe so hard! I will gladly admit to having an archive of images way too heavily edited with emo kid song lyrics photoshopped over the top they are so bad!!

Notice how he said Stock Photography wasn't booming yet back then. When you're the only guy who has a picture of autumn leafs online, everyone who wants autumn leafs has to buy yours. Now people have their choice out of 1000's pictures of leafs so you cannot possibly make that type of money with a picture like this. But when you're first to the market with a new product you can make money.

Just finished a shoot recently, I thought I had done amazing in the beginning and as I kept on looking through the images started feeling a pattern and didn't like it through the whole thing. And then I was a bit sad about this journey I have started upon. And boom youtube doing its magic for the first time in its existence, I see this video and I feel much better now. It is not going to happen over the night true stuff. So let's do it like Peter. Learn and learn and learn, while never giving up on yourself. Thank you, Peter. Love from INDIA!!

HEMIL RAMI I’m a full time professional and just got done with some edits for a client and feeling pretty down about my work lately. You just have to keep going and try not to dwell.
