In formerly times (from the 1980's) we heard in family bad words about "The Molenkamp" because it were social welfare houses, for people with social benefits and jobless single mothers. People who did not work and received social welfare. These were frowned upon at that time (and this still is frowned upon nowadays in the area). You heard people say in Heerde: "do your best at school, because you don't want to end up in "The Molenkamp" (de molenkampies). Ironic that the word "Kamp" is also the word of gypsies trailerparks (woonwagenkamp), that have also a bad name in America.
