I have enjoyed Petula Clark's music since I was a teenager. Now74 I appreciate the timeless songs she sings. I appreciate Petula collaberating with Tony Hatch for the extended versions and videos of her songs especially Downtown. Had the privilege of meeting her and husband Claude Wolf in 1970. Beautiful and charming lady. I still cherish this memory and will as long as I live. Now 90 Petula is still performing. What a trooper. Long may she live and continue performing as long as she is willing and able.

First as a BBC Radio child star singing to the British Soldiers of WW Two. Then becoming a Movie Star which Petula went back to being in the 1960's. Then a recording star ⭐ recording hit records not just in English but also in French,Spanish, Italian and German. She then started to record the songs of musical mistro Tony Hatch,songs that would become Worldwide Mega-Hits. One of them,Downtown, became Petula's signature tune. Other Theatre roles came along these included Sunset Blvd,Blood Brothers with David Cassidy and Mary Poppins The Musicial. Petula also had residencies on Las Vagas and Broadway. All in all quite a life to look back on. And through all this wonderful career Petula Clark has remained very approachable,very kind and very generous. No one has deserved such a long lasting career as much as Petula Clark. I am just so incredibly grateful that in my own lifetime I was lucky enough to be able to have Sally Olwen Clark (Petula's real name) in my life. She has brought me much happiness and forefullment through her ultra brilliant music. I am forever thankful to those who came up with the wonderous You Tube. Through this amazing invention I have been able to see Petula's PHENOMENAL career through the years. And of course with You Tube I am able to hear @peterroberts wonderful collection of the Greatest Hits of Petula Clark. The Greatest ever.

Petula has always been a star for me, from a teeni-bopper to my 72 years still singing her songs. But now as I reflect on her "Downtown", times are just not what they were anymore what with Jihadist on the streets in violent demonstrations and using cars as weapons, downtown anywhere just isn't a safe place to be. But that being said, her songs take me back to happier times, better times and I love her for it.

Hard to explain though Downtown seemed to propel this young teen to keep taking a bus to downtown Minneapolis in the mid 60's to have lunch and movie. Often with a gal. Or just by myself. Numerous times. Not more I can say. Love the videos.

Happy 92nd birthday Petula. On my first holiday away from my parents in 1964 on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia I was blown away by the soon to be a hit song Downtown. At that time I was a huge Beatles fan and Petula really impressed me and she continued to enthral me with hit after hit. She was competing on the world stage with the all the stars of the British Invasion. In 1965 the song Round Every Corner was released and the words of the song still instil happiness and joy in me today. Now in my mid-seventies, the inspirational words about living life, remembering history and predicting that 'Man will soon be standing on the Moon'. The words also inspired us all to plan ahead for beautiful future, and the words are still a guiding light for me. Thankyou Petula.

WHEN SINGERS COULD ACTUALLY SING.....I saw her perform with Andy williams back in 2005 or 6 with Andy Williams in his Moon River theatre down in Branson Missouri.What a trip down memory lane that night! I had grown up listening to their music in the '60's when their songs were all over the airwaves.As I sat there that night,mesmerized as I watched these two Icons of an era from times past,belt iout tgheir most famous hits,and do several duets together,I was both thrilled and amazed that they STILL had it! It was as if that era of so long ago had suddenly returned,and In was transported back to my happiest and the most memorable time of my life4--the magical '60s! And although Andy Williams is gone now,I understand that she is still touring and performing-in her 90's!--into 2025!

Petula and Dusty and Lulu in my formative years, Gloria Estefan since 1999 and my first listen to 'Alma Caribena', all in Spanish but who cares? A few others along the way, and lots of stuff from before my time; so much I must have missed. Most recently I've discovered just how good a singer was Diana Dors.
