What a wonderful world we had, never to be ever again. WE were and still are so lucky to have been part of it. I was 11 years old and listened to Top of the Pops on a Sunday evening with my friends, I will never forget how wonderful it was. Great to listen to again.

I kept all my vinyl albums and 45rpm records. I also kept about 20 cassettes and kept all my cd’s too:) if you have only digital downloads, you really don’t own anything. Always wise to keep some physical copies. Now the younger generation has figured out that records have a warm sound that’s hard to capture on digital . They want old speakers too lol.

What has gone wrong with the world today? The news is constantly filled with depressing events: children carrying knives and committing murders, pensioners like myself living in fear within their own country, being advised to endure t he cold this winter. The last two administrations have resolved nothing. I've stopped going outside after dark. Yet, I can remain safely indoors, with KZbin and a glass of my favorite beer, listening to the great music from my time. Long may music thrive, regardless of age. Ron Walker

The nationwide crime rate had dropped over the last thirty years. You are safer going outside now than you were in the 1980s. Stay inside if you like, that's your concern. But don't blame an "administration" for your decision to do so.

Searchers from Love Potion #9 to Needles and Pins. Absolute Gold! Dusty Springfield best female singer to come out of The British Invasion. Shame she had such a traumatic childhood. I saw her speak about her Dad and how he used to tell her ugly and worthless she was. It scarred her life. Her lack of self confidence and self worth was palpable. She died of Breast Cancer 13 days before she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Such a Heart Breaker. Extroidinary talent! The Hollies were The best male group to come out of the British Invasion. So underrated and as far as I'm concerned far better than the Beatle. Allen Clarke's voice was untouchable! One of the Best if not the Best male voice of that generation. Allen, Tony and Graham complimented each other like no other group did. Even when Graham left and Terry came in they lost nothing. They were just as good as they'd ever been. I'm Alive, Kerry Ann, On a Carousel, Sorry Suzanne, The Air that I Breath, He ain't Heavy and the list goes on. Outstanding!

Loved Matt Monroe..rarely hear his wonderful voice nowadays..l remember Frank Sinatra saying that he had a much better voice than he did and when he first heard him sing he did some investigation and said he'd have become bigger than Sinatra himself IF he had been taller..l think Monroe was only just around 5" 7

Best song of lost love ever: ‘Walk On’. Matt smoked at least four packs of cigarettes a day yet had the smoothest voice of the era.

It's an enigma to me that Helen Shapiro never broke into the US charts (except for "Walking Back To Happiness", reaching #100). Her unique voice and considerable song catalog should have ensured international success.

Yeah...it's sad sometimes, how some very good songs didn't venture far from their home base. Over here in Canada (Toronto) the only song that, I can recall hearing...wasn't the one that you knew. I will play "Walking Back To Happiness" after sending this text. The only song by her that I recall way back was "I Don't Care"...which I truly loved and still do. Infact, I think that I will play both. Thank You

Bear in mind that Helen Shapiro was pre the "British invasion" otherwise she probably would have been a success in the US.

Only for a short while. You couldnt get on TV as a singer unless you wore a suit, or like the American crooners slacks and shirt. It was one of the first things Brian Epstein changed to get the Beatles noticed and on the TV. Even the Stones first appearances were in suits. Within a very short space of time. around 65, the suits were out.

Linda.. I guess wearing suits kind of helped the parents accept them more for their children as entertainment and come across as decent guys. My dad who was a musician in his younger years liked a lot of our music and the wearing of the suits helped him be more acceptable of their performances. 😎
