My father, who's now passed away, would have given his soul to visit this place. I would give a lot to get a chance to be with him again and see him excited for hours talking about cars and his youth. I miss you dad.

Love the early US RIGHT HAND drive Cadillac. The Petersen Museum is an unbelievable tour when in LA. The vault admission price is a little more to attend and well worth it.

Thank you for this virtual tour. Please only read to the end if you enjoy a true story of how when choosing cars can affect the trajectory of your career, and not being a brown cow following the herd. I'm a '67 Irish petrol head. My 1st car with I joined the military was a '82 850cc Mini (Mr Bean car 😅) Followed by 2 Alpha's, black Sprint cloverleaf + a twin round headlamps ferrari red Alpha Sud Ti. My career always included driving cars, limousines etc. In September '98 I had a black Lexus Ls400 which i used as part of the Pool cars used for President Bill & Hillarys visit to Limerick Ireland. On the morning on the drivers briefing a week or so before AF1 touched down at Shannon Airport, all us 100 + drivers were assembled for a briefing in a local hotel with the Secret Service forwarding security agents. Before the assembly started I had tried passing out business cards to all other drivers of the larger limo companies present, but being a lone sheep from the West of Ireland I didn't even appear on their radars, and my cards were dismissed into their back pockets without even a glance at my credentials. Suddenly, before we were called to attention, over the internal intercom was a request for the driver of car registration 1234 please make themselves known to the 2 agents out side the function room. The room went quite, all drivers were dressed in black suits + white shirts started looking around to see who was the owner. From the back row of the room I stood up, it was like the walk of shame to the side door exit, while listening to mummers some laughing saying things like "he looked dodgy when passing his business cards out & I bet they (SS) found something wrong with his background check etc. Upon exiting the room the large doors closing behind me. 2 agents asked was I the driver of car registration 1234, I said yes waiting to be escorted out for some issue I could not think of. I was then introduced to a very tall gentleman who identified himself as a special agent X.He said, while getting ready earlier that morning, his view from his 4th floor bedroom window was facing the secured parking compound of all the 100 + vehicles, cars etc.. to be used for the transport of agents, media etc before, during and after the presidents visit. He said while every black executive car was as polished as the one beside it, my car registration 1234 stood out ? He said why do you have a Lexus while everyone else has Mercedes ? I replied innocently, I use different cars for different purposes, Mercedes are very good but obvious, on this occasion where I assumed the passengers may require more descretion while availing of ample leg room, power etc. He replied he was also a big Lexus fan, and for similar reasons to mine, would I mind being his personal driver for the duration of the visit. Agent X was one of the top agents for security or Adare Manor. I was given a special lanyard and my car pass had access all areas. I was asked to go directly to the secure compound, retrieve my car, and park it outside the front door of all buildings hense forth while waiting fot agent X. The look on everyone's faces coming out after the briefing, seeing the lone sheep's car taking pole position. No doubt I became very popular afterwards. But my real story only starts now. On returning to my home town some weeks later, I was blessed to be chosen for a very prestigious city contract that having the that Lexus was a key factor. For the new millennium 2000 I wanted to have a special car to use for this contract. I looked at local dealerships approx May 1999 but nothing stood out. To cut a longer story shorter, I had to import (from Vardy Scotland) a custom design black E320 Cdi Avengard, cream napa leather etc with 16 custom extras. I was awarded a very special registration plate No. 1 to put on the car, the millennium 00-1 registration for my home town. I used that car (her) with pride for several years on that prestigious contract. Unfortunately like other businesses at the time I had to sell her. I believe she is in some barn shed waiting to be restored. Due to recent circumstances I'm unable to do it. However I hope there is someone who is really passionate about restoring a historical future vehicle + putting her into a warm garage / vault ... or warmer climate 😅, to be admired and respected for her build quility, history, + rare number plate . I'm not completely sure where she is, or state of restoration needed, but isn't that half the fun looking and hopefully finding her. I have pictures of her when new for anyone interested. GB.. Danny😎🌈

Wonderful video and very enjoyable to watch. I've been fortunate enough to have visited the Petersen once, about 20 years ago. Getting to see cars that aren't usually displayed is a real treat. McQueen's XKSS is a stunner. A fantastic choice as favorite in the collection. 47:25 The Coronet is a '67 WO23 factory lightweight Super Stock. Acid dipped sheetmetal, no sound deadener or insulation, trunk mounted battery, smaller 10" front brakes, and even the fan had aluminum blades.
