Drill a hole though the side of the cup holder closest to the buckle. Tie a sting around the buckle then the hole though the cup holder so it won’t slide when you hit the break. Make sure there’s not a lot of slack on the string tho.

I have autism, and although we don't know what causes autism, autism itself causes emotional and physical sensory issues. My part is Aspergers Syndrome and in my childhood days, my family I had a 1995 Ford Windstar, an old fashioned mini-van with only one sliding door on the right hand side and a solid wall on the left hand side. My brother, who was and still is, older than me, had the seat by the wall and never gave me a chance to decide what seat to use when my parents bought that van, so I was left to no choice but the seat by the sliding door, and so he had a cupholder as well as both our mom and dad each, but I had no cupholder at all, they were all able to free their hands from their cans, but I had to hold mine in my hands for more hours than I could handle. There had been times my hands were freezing from holding cans in my hands longer than I should have which also got my soda pop warmer for me than for each of the other three. Other times, when we were stopped somewhere and left our cans in the van, I had to leave the can sit on the floor between the seat and door, and sometimes it was spilled and made a mess and other times, I lost grip while cruising that it bounced out of my hands that they fell to the floor and also made a mess causing my mom to have to clean up and my cans got empty faster and sooner than I thought at many of those times and at other times, to prevent those messes, I didn't bring any beverages with me because I was the only one without a cupholder and when we went to fast food restaurants like Wendy's, Burger King, or McDonalds, I had to go thirsty, and with no beverage taken with me for being cupholderless, sometimes my brother, other times my mom, and other times my dad, had to share their cans with me even if neither one of them were happy about it. Although those issues as described above were NOT my fault and I had no control over them, they still blamed them all on me. Then one day, we visited my grandma and I told her about all those issues, and what a bad couple my parents were, what a bad boy my brother was, what a bad van our 1995 Windstar was, and what a bad seat mine was, and she had a talk with them and so a while after that, we went shopping at Meijer, a grocery business similar to Walmart, only Walmart is around the world and Meijer is only in six states, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, and we live in Michigan, and while my brother went with my mom to the grocery section, I went with my dad to the general merchandise section, and fair enough to put an end to my cupholderless issues as described above, he helped me pick out a portable console to be placed in the center of the second row between both bucket seats, mine and my brother's. We put it down to the bottom of the shopping cart to make room for our food, and after checking out, my mom and brother loaded the groceries through the tailgate and after I opened the sliding door, my dad helped me load the console in the empty space in the middle of the second row between me and my brother. Sure enough, the console had extra cupholders that I needed but couldn't use until then, and that move eliminated that cupholder accessibility restriction that applied to anyone like me sitting by the sliding door on the right side rather than the solid wall on the left side and I was able to use cupholders like the rest of my immediate family.

However, you're not seeing those portable consoles at Meijer or Walmart anymore because over the years, mini-vans and SUVs had a lot of modern improvements up to this day. Many seats each have two cupholders now, which is even better than just one, and there's been less and less of those cupholder accessibility restrictions now than there used to be, so the only way to eliminate any of those accessibility restrictions that are still around now is to buy those portable consoles out on Amazon. My mother passed away last year and I’m driving her SUV now. She installed a similar cup holder which worked great for 10 years until about 2 weeks ago when I had to brake suddenly and the cup holder went flying on to the passenger seat floor. Ever since then any time I apply the brakes with any kind of force at all (I’m a careful driver) the thing flies right off and hits the floor. I’m not using it to hold anything anymore except coins and bottled sodas with caps.

Eh.. probably the seat foam taking shape of this cup holder and not the solid holder anyway..I'd say the easiest way to alleviate this sliding issue with a rubber/sillicone cloth and you just wrap it around the bottom add a lot of an extra grip!
