Is The Edison Wedge Tech Backwards?

I've run a robot test on these Edison wedges (3 wedge set) we set up the robot to hit in 5 location (Dead center and 4 locations around dead-center (12mm away) 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 9 o'clock. so nearly a 25mm (2.5cm) area around the center of the wedge. Then we changed the angle of decent to low, medium, steep. And tested them for distance dispersion. average using 50%, 75%, 100% swing speeds (80mph = 100%) - what we found was that the dispersion of the Edison wedges in terms of distance carried on the fly was nearly 2x tighter than Titleist, Callaway, or TaylorMade. For most golfer including single digit handicap players (I play to an 8 handicap currently - down from a 10.2 since putting these in my bag nearly 4 months ago.) this type of wedge should be in your bag. They are called SCORING clubs for a reason. If you are not maximizing forgiveness in your SCORING clubs, then you are just plain dumb. The carry distance is the difference between carrying over a water hazard or sand bunker onto the green - rather than having to chip onto the green. MOST approach shot are 75% of the time short of the pin. So why not use a club that will carry close to the yardage that you want to carry on slightly mishit shots? Of all the clubs you should be improving dispersion (distance) on your wedges should be #1

Thanks for the review. Been considering an upgrade. I got a first gen pair (51, 55) and they sat around after a few rounds because I didn't care for the feel on shorter shots. Recently I started playing them again and like them for full shots but still haven't gotten the feel for partial pitches and chips. I have noticed that they do fly comparatively long and my gapping for 51 and 55 isn't enough. I'm getting 90 out of the 55 and ~100 for the 51. I'm thinking of getting the gen 2 in 57 and 51 for better gapping.

I have the Edison 2.0, best wedge I have ever used, I was a Vokey fanboy for many years, these are way easier to hit. The height they hit is very impressive. I have a 59 and 55. The 5x forge refers to the Japanese forging that aligns the grains of the metal, all the top-of-the-line Japanese brands use the same process.

Have you been thinking of going to that Carlsband calif Taylormade fitting center, I'm going to check how much it costs to get fitted for Driver.

Just went on their website. 199.99 USD for one wedge. I wouldn’t exactly call that “extremely affordable” when you have Kirkland wedges coming in at $159.99 for 3 and preform very similar to a Titlest wedge. $199 is actually more expensive then most big name manufacturers for a single wedge, no?

I use the SCOR wedges by TK. An earlier iteration of this wedge. SCOR evolved from Eidilon. Terry bought the Ben Hogan name and had that product line going for a while. I heard good things about the BH brand, but never tried them. Unfortunately, the BH brand went bust. SCOR wedges are still in my bag. Love em! They perform well as I believe the Edison wedges should.

Price aside, I prefer the looks of the JP in the bag cuz it's beautiful, but they look the same at address. From a performance standpoint, they seem equal.

I've been so torn! I've been playing both (as well as some alternatives on a couple of other clubs). I hit both the Edison and JP about the same, and it makes sense because both move the CG higher. To me, it's a toss up, but on price, the Edison has the obvious advantage.

Yeah, I agree. I got 3 of these wedges, custom fit, for less than one JP. And they've been incredible!

I've been gaming both the Edisons and the JP Premiers. They both perform nearly the same, which is to say, the best wedges I've played... and I think because they both have high centers of gravity.
