I use the BBE Sonic Maximizer, through my effect loop, which I leave on all the time. It gives a little harmonic sparkle and a little umph too.. Its subtle.. but very cool. . This pedal seems like that, but with more options

Wow, great demo Pete. The compressor sounds very natural and low-noise; the range master and EQ are a great combination of features. I'm very interested in this unit now. Thanks Pete for the great feel of your playing and showing what this baby can do. Very impressed.

I bought this pedal because of this video. DryBell shipped it to me from Croatia in less than a week. I immediately put it on my pedalboard and everything sounded better. From clean to dirty, humbucker to single coil it was the missing element to my live tone. I am completely blown away. And, it's super easy to use.

True, but I saw a vid Pete did on treble boosters. I, of course, went out and bought two different ones (Candlebread MagaViper and an Earthquaker Bows-2-slightly different sounds, both great units) and these types of pedals do exactly what Pete described. It makes your amp come alive. This pedal is basically what I bought, a treble booster (really, a mid freq booster) except it has the compressor and tone stack. Check out the treble booster demo Pete does and then make your decision. BTW, I did not buy any of the ones Pete demoed. I simply did some research and ended up with what I thought best for my set-up.

A brilliant idea a whole pedal from the past but take the key thing it did so well. The Rangemaster was called a treble booster but the coolest thing it did was boost the upper mids at the sweetest spot imaginable. The compressor too ...lots of compressors do as good a job BUT they don't have tha Urei tone. It is more of a hot rod upgrade for the preamp of your amp.
@kevincourcey8136 жыл бұрын
Sounds fabulous, but I always wonder if I'm being taken in by the fact that it makes the sound louder. Everything sounds better louder. Would have helped to have an A/B with the volume controlled, that way could focus on the tone more. Great playing as always.

Well it does boost! That’s part of the good stuff it does haha! You can hear in the section where I’m just demonstrating the compressor the unity gain tones

I could feel the addictiveness just listening. I know I'll love it. I use an early Mike Fuller pedal that boosts and slightly compresses for my "correcting" of the lows and highs of my JTM45 and my AC30. But this seems like I can dial it in more finely... and yeah.. chasing the perfect tone is always addictive. Thanks, Pete! BTW .. I have the Cerberus for teaching blues right now.. and I keep selling them to my clients and having to get new ones. Thank you for showing us that one.

I’ve been wanting a cali76 for a long time. I’ve always wanted “that” guitar compression sound on my board. Just never pulled the trigger for whatever reason. And now this comes along....I’m gonna have to live with the knowledge that it exists for a while before going either way. This obviously isn’t that fully featured from a compression standpoint but honestly, how much of a fully featured compressor do you really need on your board? I don’t know. It’s gonna take a while for me to work it all out. For the time being, my smoothie compressor is doing quite nicely.

I have both. The Origin Effects stays on all the time and I use the Drybell 67 for a boost.

Elim Hmar Ended up snagging a cali76 last summer when a good deal on the “black edition” came along. Since then it’s been kind of an “always on” (with my prince of tone) like John P uses it. I use it in a pretty big midi switching rig...and I’ve noticed the two pedals that wind up in more patches than anything else are the prince and the cali.
@MarcCoteMusic6 жыл бұрын
I just caught Brett Kingman's demo of this pedal and was impressed. Now, you've come along and put together this one - another gem. I really like what this pedal is doing. That said it does fall well into the boutique pedal price range. You get what you pay for in this case, I suppose...

Hi Pete! The recent addition of a Rangemaster in the Helix finally made the Rory Gallagher AC-30 TB sound fall into place for me (I usually have the studio comp on as well, so that's close to this pedal), the harmonics just fly off the fretboard with Rangemaster!
@chrisferrara1906 жыл бұрын
Sounds pretty great. ...of course when you have Pete demoing it. It sometimes sounds like a slight delay with a chorus added in that 80s "Killer of Giants" mode. ...keeping the attack tight with compression. I think I need this pedal.

I don't understand these pedals that 'enhance' everything. Like the Shaeffer (sic) pedal et al. They generally sound like clean boosts or EQs to me, with the added noise that boosting any signal usually brings. I need to try this stuff.
@PeteThorn6 жыл бұрын
Try it! You’ll see right away. Makes everything more “alive”, boosts and improves the tone AND feel and yes it will increase noise floor somewhat. But you hear it in vid, it’s acceptable

Apart from the extremely juicy guitar tones dished up in this video, I feel your guitar playing has really shifted to a level where I am guessing that there really isn't much you can't play Pete?
