Well Pete, those near 18 minutes flew by! Took me right back to my Scorpion build, did this! Ah yes, those rear wishbone mounts and the front axle were a bit fiddly for me, too, I think I had those apart a few times! Great editing and narration of the build, mate, it must have taken a few hours to do that. I'm just editing my 037 build part 2, so I totally appreciate the effort you've put in. The end result looks fantastic and I like the choice of chrome wheels. It does look a little too fast for me, but I am old you know! Great stuff here as always, hope your week is going well. Cheers mate!

Hiya mate. Yeah it's quite a long vid but I didn't really hang around! Most of this I remembered from the Turbo Scorpion build so only a couple of little cock up's! Oh yes a few too many hours on the editor with this. I do like doing this compressed format but it does take an age to edit down. It is possibly a bit too fast so after I've done a speed test I might try the lower gear ratio. Cheers for watching and your great comments as ever mate. Best wishes to you 😁👍👍

@PeteWylieRC Жыл бұрын
Hi there. I've got this and the Turbo Scorpion and if I was only allowed to keep one of them if would be the Turbo Scorpion. It just handles better with a wider stance and also the tyres it comes with allow it to kick the back out into an oversteer. The Beetle rear tyres are a bit too grippy on grass so it understeers quite a bit. I guess I could change the tyres. Many thanks for watching and your kind comments :-)

That was nice to watch, and not least to hear your comments on it. I have one myself, and the issues you described were also the places I struggled during the build. To be completely honest, I hated building it, and I didn't much enjoy it first couple times I drove it. But the day I went and videotaped it, I had a great time and I have come to love this silly piece of obsoleted technology. Funny, it drives like a dream, ha ha! Yours looks like it's got loads of wheelspeed, looking forward to watching your full run video!
@PeteWylieRC Жыл бұрын
Hi there. Ah so it's not just me. That's interesting that you didn't enjoy building this. I really enjoyed it and it all fits together really well. With the handling I think that the Turbo Scorpion with the mini block tyres is better on dry grass as you can throw the back round. This is better in the wet I think with the blocks. Compared to some early Tamiyas I think that these Kyoshos have really nice handling. I do need to get a bit more run footage and stick it on here. Many thanks for your great comments 😁👍

Firstly, Happy birthday 🎉 Pete mate , and what a lovely build this turned out to be buddy . Got a question on a tamiya build that I'm going to be doing got a hobbywing G2 3652 3300 KV need a recommendation on pinion size for a TT02 . Hope your well Chris 😎🤙
@PeteWylieRC Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. My birthday was a couple of months back but I appreciate the birthday wishes. You haven't said whether you are building a TT-02 car or buggy but I'd just say that with that with 3300kv it would be a good speed upgrade if you use the pinion supplied in the kit. Presumably you are running 2s? I usually try the pinion from the kit and see how it is and only get a different one if I'm not happy with it. I tend to get a hardened steel pinion for cars that are going to be heavy runners. Many thanks indeed for watching the vid 😁👍

Hi there Pete, I’ve throughly enjoyed watching this build. This is the Kyosho that is on my wish this. I think you’ve done a marvellous job and that Absima brushless setup, really makes it fly, for sure. Good choice too with the chrome wheels, really sets it off well. I think you did a great job with the body and driver too. I particularly like the cover, that closes all the electronics in. I so want one 😂😊😊, a big hug to Mr Smith of CW-01 Creations for getting you this wonderful RC. best wishes to you and the family 😊😊😊
@PeteWylieRC Жыл бұрын
Hiya John. Yes this is a lovely kit and it was very kind of Mr Smith to give this to me. I'd probably say go for the Turbo Scorpion out of the two because with the tyres it comes with you can drift it around corners more although they are both great cars in different ways. Like you say it's great to have the cover for the chassis tub. I'm pleased with how this turned out. I have managed to crack the body a bit and some of the paint has come off but it was always going to be a runner and not a shelf queen. Many thanks indeed for watching my friend. Very best wishes to you and yours 😁👍

Hey Pete! Very enjoyable video matey..... definitely liking the longer format. Kyosho have done a great job with their legendary series, and all of them still perform very well for such old designs..... that's credit to some seriously good engineering. All those metal parts really excel the build, and certainly improve durability.... erm..... unless you're launching them violently through the air with a powerful brushless set up over golf course bunkers!! 🤣 😂 But hey, it wouldn't be a Pete Wylie video if they were gently running along the ground on a silver can eh?! 😉 She looked sweeeeet once all finished..... reminded me of bumble bee from the transformers! Nitro motor would of been more suited to the buggy
@SpaceCoastStreetRippers29 күн бұрын
Not at all. Kyosho actually made this in a nitro model, it was called the Kyosho Assault and it was complete garbage. Dad got it for me (really for him) Christmas 85-86, it was slow AF and handled horribly. It had an O.S CZ1 .12 and made more noise than it did power. It was good for about 20mph I guess. Used a centrifugal clutch with two expanding shoes inside. I mean just being nitro in the 80's made it awesome, but with the weight so far aft it made the front end skip and understeer worse than anything you could imagine. In fact, it was so bad, one of the RC mags published a mod in early 89 or 90 where they hacksawed the rear 1/3rd of the frame and suspension off the Assault, then mounted it to the frame of a modified (cut) gold pan RC10, which I did... It was still garbage. I'm getting ready to buy this kit tonight, Black Friday from Amain Hobby. A little nostalgia but this time it'll make REAL power and have better balance via a brushless set up. These kits are super quality, quality you can feel over all this other mold injected plastic crap. Can't wait.
