Snow leopard not regular leopard, I finally got it! It's going to be difficult to follow the pastel rule because pastels are in this year for winter: mint and butter yellow. I have always loved contrast trim and have searched for it for years before it became available again. I credit Lily Silk with first offering it, in their silk knit tops, and for bringing back (silk) slim cargo pants, both of which I love. I’m also delighted that classic, fitted blazers are back, I refused to buy an oversized one. Quality is a problem, though, I must have all natural-fibers (allergies), but the high-end brands that use them are still making only enormous, oversized blazers. I don’t know why, surely everyone who actually wanted one has one by now, they were trendy for five years.

I wear white pants all year and I live in New England. I personally think it’s a stupid rule that you can’t wear white after Labor Day. I always feel elegant, clean and sophisticated. Win win.

I'm 53 and raised to dress conservatively, but one thing I definitely agree with the modern flexibility of wearing white after Labor Day. I live where it's hot and humid until November, and also love the white pants in winter trend. I think it's fine. Perhaps not white on white in winter, but one or the other works well. An added benefit is that white goes well with all skin tones.

HISTORY LESSON: don’t wear white after labor more than likely came from the time when ppl had horses. Before there were cars and shortly thereafter the roads were dirt. There weren’t sidewalks. So wearing white in winter and fall meant your clothes would get extremely dirty. Add to this there were no automatic washing machines. So mothered taught daughters not to wear white in fall and winter.

I hope you can help with this: I have a fall wedding to attend and I always struggle with being cold on my arms and shoulders because even when my dress is long. I just wear something outside but once I’m inside nothing warm on top. My dress is royal blue with long spaghetti straps. I’m also 5’1 so I can’t overwhelm the look.

Can you link that oatmeal sweater please? It’s so cute! Great tips. I also switch out of sandals in The fall. Unless it’s an evening going out outfit I think strappy sandals and thick sweaters don’t mesh. But also my feet get so cold unless it’s really warm.

I don’t look good in dark colors or bright ones; muted pastels or other light colors suit me much better. I try to wear slightly darker shades like taupe, light browns and medium blues and greens in winter, but don’t want to wear black or gray. Nor do we have to, there are other options, like navy, or cool browns and greens, that look better on us Summer coloring types. As much as I love warm Autumnal colors, I know they won’t look good on me. I think it’s more important to follow personal color preferences than fashion rules.

I adore my white bottoms. I try to wear ivory more in the autumn and winter, but my wardrobe is really geared towards white much more. My tops, if striped, are mostly white-, not ecru-striped.

I've just ordered a pair of NYDJ white jeans - my first white pants since my teens! No more reasons to avoid them now (except when babysitting grandchildren, haha), but still worried about the waste of money and fabric if I spill red wine on them, or just brush against something dirty... In Florida, it's always summer weather (@ least for the past several years). I've not been able to wear my warmer clothes, only cool, light weight, sleeveless clothing (bc it's SOOO darn hot & humid! - It knocks you over when you walk out doors!). So I continue to wear my "summer" clothes. I do try to stay away from the flowery or palm print materials in winter/fall. But it's next to impossible to wear true winter/fall clothes in Florida. Is this wrong?

Until we really really get fall temperatures here I live I will definitely wear my white pants with the Striped Shirt! Everybody says it suits me, why should I change. And I have always always always hated Leopard Style. No way for me! "Fashion" or not.

I'm surprised at the number of people who wear white pants in the winter. It's not practical and it doesn't scan with the environment in most of the US unless #1. It's a sunny day (rare), AND #2. not muddy or snowy. Pure white pants on a typical gray winter day just glare. If it's raining or snowy, they're going to get grubby. A light-blue sweater with white pants sounds truly snow-maiden and wonderful, but keeping those pants pristine sounds like a chore.

But madame,all I know is short people like me should avoid clothing with horizontal lines, it should be with vertical lines to have the ellusion of height/length. Now,why are you wearing a shirt with vertical lines then?

You can wear black shoes with white pants just bring some black in at the top even if it is just a belt and sunglasses it will make ig work🥰
