How about japonese Boxwood?

Hahaha!! @6:25 A fragrance, about a year or two ago I opened up my front door and got a whiff of that. I live in a condo and really didn't know anything about boxwoods or shrubbery. I thought I had a problem with some of the cats that roam around the complex or my next door neighbor possibly dumping used kitty litter around the shrubbery. I recently decided to look into gardening because the lawn care people do such a bad job with the shrubbery and they really need some extra help that they just don't provide. That's when I learned about boxwood and the fragrance and not having a cat problem.

Just planted four Green Gem boxwoods and this video seems to suggest that we made the right choice for our need and area. Thank you!

How far apart did you plant them? How are they doing now? Thanks!
@GardenDoodles2 жыл бұрын
@@ckhayes3795 We picked Green Gem because of its small size but we wanted a few of them more for structural interests in the garden during winter rather than for hedging. We planted them pretty far apart but they’re surrounded by other deciduous shrubs and perennials. You can get a glimpse of them in our garden tour videos if you want to see exactly where we placed them. They’re growing well and seem very happy in their locations.

Is Dee Runk supposed to be blue? I just bought two of them, and they are decidedly much more blue than my Wintergreen and Winter Gem. They are lovely!

All varieties will do well in either lighting condition! Just keep in mind that those planted in full sun will require more water.

I need to replace my dead shrubs from Texas freeze of 2021. Is Japanese boxwood good for South East Texas? I’m a newbie to planting. Do you have vid on how to plant boxwoods? Thx.

You can find more information on our recommended planting method here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3qYcpyMjKeiZ80 As for the best boxwoods to plant in South East Texas, we recommend checking with your local, independent garden center! We have experience with what works best here in Northeast Ohio, but they will be able to give you the best advice on what works well in your area!

Just transplanted 9 winter box wood from 5 gal containers into the ground. They were very green. I followed all planting guides. Now, two weeks later, some are turning color and looking shabby. What's wrong? What can I do to fix. Help, please. Thank you.

love your videos! I have planted a row of green gem boxwoods 2 feet apart from each other. Is that too close? is it possible to keep them small ? (I am not trying to make a hedge) Appreciate your help!
@PetittiGardenCenters2 жыл бұрын
Green Gem is a slow-growing variety that can reach 3-4' tall x 3-4' wide at maturity. So if they're planted 2ft apart, and you want to manage size, you may want to monitor and prune them hard each year (if/as needed) in late winter/ early spring when plants are coming out of dormancy. Lighter sheering for shape can occur until midsummer, but you don't want to do much pruning after that point.

I have heard Korean boxwood does not have the smell like the English boxwoods. Is that correct?
@PetittiGardenCenters2 жыл бұрын
Asian boxwoods (B. microphylla), or you may see the name B. sinica insularis, are not supposed to be as smelly as English varieties (B. sempervirens). Many boxwoods are a hybrid species between the two, so they typically have less aroma than a straight English species. More details are available here in our Boxwood section of our online store: shop.petittigardencenter.com/departments/boxwoods-124.html

If you can't propagate anything with a trademark or registered mark, then what's the point in purchasing them? It may too expensive to purchase all the plants that you would need to fill in the space intended, ego the need for propagating. But if you propagate them, who would know anyway?
@victoria761167 ай бұрын
I think it really means propagate with the intent to sell and make a profit. If you do it in your own garden no one will even ever know 😊

Lol, yes, I'll remember not to propagate trademarked plants. Where would we be if we lived in a world where we buy something and we own it!
@luzleal646 Жыл бұрын
You’re right. This is so stupid,you buy something but is no yours. What happens if the plant dies do they refund your money or take you to prison?
