Some of these designs are less than optimall like the fully enclosed one. The Petkit design at least won't murder your cat since it stays open and there is no bar at the top for the opening to pass over. Your other box does have the issue it appears where the opening can close and if it closes on your cat? Well goodbye kitty. The design is very important for pet safety and that is more important than any poopy smell.

I've reviewed 5 litter boxes in the past 6 months and - yes - watched that terrible video of the poorly designed white label litter box design that has been killing cats. Horrific. All the boxes I've reviewed have multiple safety settings and I recognize that I should've talked about these features in my videos....but cat-killing litter boxes wasn't on my radar when I reviewed these. They all had so many safety features that I didn't even think about it. I've since been showing all the safety features on my videos, but this video is older! The covered box in this video (PetSnowy) did worry me after the horrible news came out, but I tested it in multiple ways and read up on it's features. The key piece is that it has an extremely sensitive weight sensor and won't move at all if it detects weight. The drum will stop moving when pressure is pushed against it. And the entire lid, while not light, pops off. Not only does it come off, but it also has a light hinged door right above the drum that easily pops open and the machine automatically stops moving if the lid comes up off the machine at all. Here's a short video on that drum: kzbin.infoCJfI63iWhQA That said, I stopped using the PetSnowy. Not because of safety concerns, but because I got litter boxes I liked better with smaller footprints. I currently have 3 out that are all single drum boxes. The one in this video since it's still my favorite (PetKit Pura Max), this cute PetSafe one (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnWckIKbd8eBr8k), and I just got the new Petkit PuraX (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHOyhYqOjpWoiMk).
