Two Coats & Two Rootbeers...I agree. It seems, to me, at least, that so many newer songs have no recognizable tune. I can’t hum or whistle or sing to them. Just chords and words but no hook. These older songs had so much more to them.

When I was a teen back in the day, my then boyfriend and his roommate had the first Christian radio show in Dallas/Fort Worth (since we were dating, I was part of it too). They paid the station $50/hr. and I answered the phones, got to go to the concerts, etc. For a teenage girl, that was amazing! Petra was one of the first we got to go see, and I was hooked! All these years later, I still am hooked on their music, and will definitely have this played at my funeral (if there is one). God truly gifted Greg and the team with powerful voices, singing powerful messages that all need to hear! We also played Servant, Resurrection Band, Carman, and many others. It was only a couple hours a week, but we had over 100,000 listeners from as far away as Oklahoma City! It was truly the highlight of my teen years, besides marrying the love of my life.

Petra was the first Christian music that helped me understand what the old Hymns were talking about. I love both types and use them, like using King James sometimes and NIV at other times. God works through many different means to reach many different people!

@@JulezandChris That's what I thought too, but my husband showed me it's actually not the same. There are many errors in it! They change words, leave some out, and put others in. If you do a search for Michael Pearl, please watch his study of Romans. He goes through the KJV verse by verse, word by word, and proves the differences are life changing! Although I find it's easier to read the NKJV, the KJV is the most correct version from the Greek texts. Revelation 22:18-21 says "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: (19) And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (20) He which testifieth these things saith, "Surely, I come quickly". Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus. (21) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

This is a very comforting song- even for those who understand the truth of death. I lost my dad, who had a very big stroke nearly two years ago. My reply was neither do I but I do believe in Jesus Christ!!! Because I heard it first, I still prefer the arrangement of the original from their "Not of This World" album, but the song is powerful. Bob Hartman was truly a messenger of God in song ... just pure Bible in the lyrics of his songs and simply outstanding scores for the tunes to carry God's Word.
