Arvis_Jaggamar which is why WTA was such a bore, it became a self reinforcing praise fest for one player who was being given easy draws, and exemptions on the use of drugs. If your body hurts or what then thats what God gave you, you use that to play, otherwise let everyone use performance enhancing drugs!

Josh White Josh, haven't you ever heard of quality over quantity? This was an incredible match and it took Kvitova playing her best to take out a newly in-form Serena Williams. This type of quality match could have been a grand slam final❗Kvitova won this match more than Serena lost it. Kudos to both players and yes, SERENA is BACK❗🙌😄🤣

@DeepSeas..5 жыл бұрын
Evan Adam Um, no. I watched the entire match and in the first set, Kvitova shut her out with great serves. Serena was fighting on every point for her service games, so that’s why there’s so many more great points on her end. The second set was completely dominated by Serena because Kvitova folded and then the third was mainly filled with great serves by Kvitova.

It's funny that Serena just after maternity leave is playing at this awesome level and we expect her to win every match like she's a machine and she has more than delivered. Serena can't play on the same level she used to just yet, she has Olympia and that's a beautiful sacrifice and she will lose a lot more matches as a mom now than she used to and that's okay and she has accepted that she is willing to put in the work to get to where she wants to be and she has exceeded my expectations. Petra played brilliantly. We all make sacrifices so other players who have been putting in the time and work all year long will definitely do better than Serena who has responsibilities. The French Open and the final of Wimbledon just shows you the difference between playing a top player. She has beaten all the players she's supposed to beat and that is phenomenal. Nonetheless for top players she has to earn the win as they put in twice as much time and have developed the mental fortitude that comes with being consistent. Petra is a top player and always challenged Serena on court even when she was no.1 as well as beat her when she was no.1 so this was a very fine match from Serena and Petra, I enjoyed seeing Serena fight and lift her game after losing the first set, she did everything well. Keep it up queen!

Serena's serve still isn't all the way back. As Serena's serve goes, her game goes. She's just so much more confident when she's serving well. Every other aspect of her game is about where it needs to be. She is moving better and hitting better. She needs the matches for the serve and also to get those reaction shots. Petra played at a very high level and Serena was there every step of the way. Petra is ranked #8 - she SHOULD have won this match. Serena's losses haven't been bad in her comeback - the scores are tough, but the players she's losing to aren't ones to be alarmed at. So I can live with that.
@jonathankieranwriter5 жыл бұрын
Great to see both of these warrior women produce such entertaining ball. Serena still not quite there, fitness-wise, but the heart is roaring and she displayed some torrid, trademark shotmaking. Congrats to P3tra on a smart, measured match-certainly one of the most meaningful wins of her career, to beat Serena when she’s playing strong ball. I believe Serena will be ready to go deep at the US Open as a seed; she must never be counted out as a champion in any tournament. More intense fitness work between now and Flushing Meadows and she ought to peak for the year. Great for women’s tennis.

Oopstoobad6275 exactly. Kim had also a baby break and played to a high level afterwards unlike Serena
@randomlebaneseguy5 жыл бұрын
Masterdoctorgenius14 hi there, there are 2 differences between Serena's and Kim's comebacks: Kim came back after a year and a half of giving birth, Serena gave birth less than 1 year ago. Second, Kim was 26 when she came back in 2009; Serena is 36. I think both these factors should be considered when assessing the success or lack thereof of a players comeback to tennis after giving birth.

Ur having it all wrong, she should have face Svitolina, Keys, Wozniaki, pliskova, stephens, even Venus all top 10 players. Its not her fault if they do not perform to expectations, she does beat Mladenovic n Gorges who wer top players tho. But U hav the right to hate. Peace

I guess the grunting and the yelling and the evil eye and all the other bullying tactics don't work no more ... as the other players learn not to fear her she will slowly but surely fade away into the Halls of fame
@willybeama15 жыл бұрын
Thoukis Thoukis fading away into the hall of fame is what every great player eventually does. She will too but I’m thankful we have her for at least a couple more years. Roger too.
@thoukisth5 жыл бұрын
Willie Jones Roger Federer will fade away to the Hall of Fame bur he will do it with the love and respect of everyone! Serena has achieved incredible things yes but her way of doing it is not my favorite, it happens, not eveyone has to like the BOAT (bullier of all time) greatness does not necessarily mean respect
@willybeama15 жыл бұрын
Thoukis Thoukis not true. WTA was quite boring without Serena. They win differently and have different personalities but they, Roger and Serena, are the most talented and toughest players each tour has ever produced in history. None of the young guns, on either tour, are beating them consistently. Petra, a legend herself, is a veteran and has a level that can match Serena but she is inconsistent. When Roger and Serena are gone, they will be missed and the sport will lose some popularity. I hope, however, the next big star will be able to shine through and make it interesting again.
@thoukisth5 жыл бұрын
Willie Jones are you saying that to be interesting you have to be rude???? Female tennis was fine before Serena (Selles, Navratilova, Chlisters to name a few) and it will be fine after she retires because it will return to its natural state, women having to rely on technick to win a match not power

Wow. From the highlights if you did not watch the match, you would think Kvitova got the same treatment as Gavrilova. What are the odds US Open organizers are working around the clock right now to get Serena the easiest draw possible like in Wimbledon? Just Gavrilova playing against Gavrilova everywhere the entire half of the draw where Serena is playing.
@Brandon512k5 жыл бұрын
Serena’s Wimbledon draw was NOT easy, the top players just lost early. She was supposed to face Svitolina in R3, Keys R4, Wozniacki QF, Pliskova SF...... it’s not her fault that they can’t hold their own at the top.

Rare Tennis well I don’t know what kind of draw you expect her to have. Literally no other players have nearly as many slams as her, so who is she supposed to play?? All of those players are the top players in the game at the moment, so who else is she supposed to play?!!!!!!!!
@D_SQ5 жыл бұрын
She could just play Rus A. Tomova. Mladenovic. Rodina. and Giorgi again. And then add Gavrilova there just for good measure.

Serena just honing her skills, nothing to be ashamed of. Great fighters like her knows what it takes to get to the top and soon she'll be there. Untouchable!!!!!

As a Serena fan I'm not disappointed ...she's getting there... I really believe she will 'peak' (like she always says) at the US Open. This was better play than even her Wimbledon run to the final...the serve just needs to he there and were golden:-)

Rare Tennis That's so false of a statement. I can easily say you're the most hate filled for seeing that in someone else when you have no clue at all. That is your as above so below concept And you must understand how direction of projection works. Hate is identified first and called out. It does not mean what I are in you exists in me. The only hate that exists in someone that calls out hate is their extreme hatred of those who ommit such vibrations

Rare Tennis Federer is the male player of all time but is there criticism for he and is fans as well? Commentators? Its usually Serena getting the low blow for personal egotistical reasoning
@black_nebula5 жыл бұрын
Rare Tennis Im a tennis fan doesn't matter who's playing but common sense is common sense. You just hate when you don't have to. Who cares if the commentators glorify her. That's being envious and jealous that you can't even stand to hear the well deserved praise of the best woman to step on the court. That's not her fault and that does come along with being the best. The personal perception you have of my snowflakiness or whatever is fine. If that's all you got is too come up with ways to make it seem like pure hate is so just and righteous then go ahead. Relativity has shown me the same person in other situations online an face to face as well. I'm not either moved not phased by these conjectures you've come up with. Serena surely can't be bothered so youll actually stay miserable. Keep feeding that energy to yourself

Kvitova is probably the only player who pushes Serena behind the baseline because of the depth of her strokes. Everyone else lands it mid court and Williams just stands inside the court pummelling the ball till the cows come home

Fantastic match, a definite blockbuster. I'm no fan of Serena nor Kvitova (I love Masha) but with this level of tennis, both clearly has huge chances to make some huge splashes in the US Open drawing. Intense match with lots of winners, I can bet if Kvitova didn't stop Serena, Serena will go for a cruise till she gets Cincy so it's kinda like a "Now or Never" match, the same with Giorgi vs Serena in Wimbledon I really was desperate for Giorgi to snatched the match because as far as I could saw, only Giorgi who has the same (or even bigger) serve than Serena left in Wimby draw and she's fearless and that's basically the recipe to at least put a heart attack, if not winning the match, against Serena, but she didn't manage to dumped her in the end Yet Serena fluked in the final against Angie who also saw her opportunities and capitalized it to the maximum level Hope you get a good and deep run in the draw, Petra!

Cosmic con you should be so tired of saying the same thing about Serena you go on all her videos to say the exact same thing the only one on the ladies side in tennis to test positive is Maria Sharapova no other player was in the new or had a news conference to apologize for testing positive and if she didn't need it why take it for 10yrs and if you had a heart problem it just cleared up and now she can play tennis which is running,hitting a ball for hours and she's fine let that sink in your brain.
@shennacampbell63255 жыл бұрын
Cosmic Con if shes not guilty of nothing why call a special press conference to apologize nobody else on the tennis tour did and am sure they know how to test for steroid still no positive test keep saying those lies cosmic con it might come true.
@shennacampbell63255 жыл бұрын
Well then whole team didn't read the list quit making excuse her team read it told Sharapova she ignored it plain and simple like I said the only one on tour who has test positive is Maria Sharapova and called a press conference to apologize now can we please move on.
@shennacampbell63255 жыл бұрын
You keep saying that as if your trying to make yourself believe it if that true why suspend her they don't suspend you for nothing and am sure if Maria thought she was done wrong she wouldn't have gotten a lawyer and fight the case I never seen where a person add so much to a story it's over now Sharapova has accepted her mistake why can't you she's back playing tennis not given a damn about what people say.
