Just saw St Augustine's Pears "liked" by a youngster on Pandora. (Along w/ newer music) I love Petra but hasn't heard this song... So here I am on KZbin taking a quick listen. Somehow we know when we first sinned. May others know the joy of first learning Christ loves them even if murder - not just stealing in-needed pears - is in their past. The memory is sweater. If our first relative, Adam, could damn us w/ one stolen fruit, how MORE will Christ's obedience SAVE US!

Me costó unos cuantos años conseguir esta canción que no dejaba de escuchar desde que tenía 10 años, recordé que me parecía extraño el título y cuando descubrí el mensaje me pareció potente que destacaran el poder del remordimiento cuando hacemos algo indebido. No hay peor cárcel que el remordimiento, sin embargo aunque usted no lo crea, el remordimiento es solo para los nobles de corazón, que se sienten mal por haber cometido un error, recordemos que somos humanos y hacer de los errores una experiencia para no repetirlo y ayudar a otros. Aún no estoy claro si San Agustín del que hablan en esta canción es el mismo Monje catolico muy popular entre os Católicos el cual los cristianos utilizan un dogma humano creado por el el cual dice que utilicemos las propias armas de satanas para ir contra él, algo muy contradictorio a cualquier principio Bíblico, donde en el cual nunca vamos a encontrar en ninguna parte de la Biblia, es una herejía poner a un lado donde dice en efesios y la armadura de Dios para hacer practica de un doga humano que dice que utilicemos las armas de satanas para ir contra el mismo. Ejemplo, cuando excusan el Death metal "Cristiano" su manera de cantar las mismas veces que representan maldad etc ( Yo vengo de ese mundo de metal pesado) se como es eso. También supuestamente "Evangelizar" disfrazados siendo parte y celebrando hallowen y asi pare de contar como parte de la Apostasia que se tiene que dar.

Bob Hartman, the author of most of their songs, did Bible study for years. Most of them went to Bible College. So, I am not too surprised that they read Augustine "Confessions". I don't think I have read it, myself. They mainly ministered to folks that the organized church could not reach.

@@charlesharrison7705 I think most "Pet-heads" (Petra fans) were people who were completely unchurched, heard Petra's music, then confessed, repented, and began to live a new life as followers of Jesus as a result. The enduring legacy of Petra as a band was their willingness to take Jesus' message "Back to the Street" as they titled one of their songs: don't sing songs for people in church, because they're not the ones whom Jesus is searching for (they're already "in", so to speak). The heroin addict, the alcoholic teenager, the single parent trying to hold everything together, the disgraced pastor, the cynic, the vicious business owner...those are the folks Jesus is searching for and sending guys like the Petra band members out to find and give the invitation to.
