This is the best version out there yet :) I wonder if anyone has a recording of Daniel Roth playing this piece...that would be so cool

It's now Dec. 8th, 2020 and this recording remains at the top of The Best played and recorded list of "The Carillon de Westminster." One of those perfect moments when everything came together. !!

This makes it look (and sound) as though you are actually standing there next to the organist!

@FromHolbergsTime Totally in agreement with you about the vibrancy of this recording!! STUNNING sound and beautifully played. Was a revelation after becoming jaded with the many mediocre recordings on KZbin.

What a waste to dismantle an organ that has such a lovely sound! And even an organ built by a Finnish organ builder! I hope they had a very good reason to do it (and I would certainly like to hear what it was). This performance is very good and the recording too! Hope this organ has a new life somewhere where it is appreciated :D

Wonderful performance! Excellent views. (Prefer less of church and more of Petri.) Sound is excellent! Well done! Thank you. RWG Denver, Colorado USA

I too like this intepretaton however, the acoustics of the room play a big part in the way we hear the sound produced. This same tempo in an acoustically 'dead' room would sound pendantic. With that said, the organist uses the acoustics to great affect.

@mhakanpaa, ...usually the opposite is the case. Still this is a fairly recent instrument and that is also what makes it odd that it is being replaced. It seems to have very strong, clear voicing and suitable for a wide variety of literature. At least it is going to have a new home, though what concerns me is unlike a piano, an organ needs to be properly voiced for the particular space it is installed in. Here in the US when an organ is moved to a new location, it can sound terrible.

...why are they dismantling this instrument?

You mean John Williams didn't come up with this motif. For Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind. This is a total rip-off!
