Welcome back to AZ, Russ. I did this stint through the Petrified Forest last summer. Was too hot to get out and do anything more than snap a few photos. Stayed overnight at the visitor center as they offer free boondocking there. Apparently, most of the petrified wood is gone due to looters looking for a quick buck. Shame. I imagine what it must have been like in its heyday.

Looks like the road runs along the top of the butte and you looking out at a dry lake bed with all the little mounds and valleys. Bet it gets really hot there during the summer. TFS a great video. Happy trails.

A person can look at that for miles and miles. Did see the layer in that on shot and looked to have different layered colors somewhat. Loved the design of that old building. Russ thank you so much. See you tomorrow. Hope your having a great evening.

Thanks for sharing. It made me wonder what the first Spanish explorers, the first western settlers, and the native tribes thought and experienced when they saw this for the first time.

You can get senior card if you are 62 or older, at an US Forest Service Office or US Park Office, I think they are $80 now for life.
