Alain De Cadenet is a great personality. Yes, a bit old-school but we need people like him. As far as grandads go, he is up there. We also need homologation specials today, more cars like GR Yaris. I could listen his automotive stories al day.

My first car was a 190E 2.3. I wanted the 2.6 but the fuel consumption was just too much to afford at the time. I had that car for almost 3 years. 243.000km when I bought it and I didn't have a single issue with it. Was almost at 290.000 when I sold it. The 190E will always be in my heart, it was amazing getting my first car who was both more comfortable and more powerful than what my friends bought for at pretty much the same price. I learned to drive in a W123 2.4D and a 190E 2.5D so Mercedes was always in the cards. But God I would love to try a 2.5 Evo. I have so many happy memories from the 190E.

I'm only like 3 minutes into this and just wanted to say thank you for having someone who can actually review an older car instead of some yuppy "Well it's brakes aren't the Porsche GT3 good" type of younger guy who's only driven playstation controllers on wheels. I've never watched this channel before but I already really like this guy. He understands the car is nearing 30 years and doesn't hold that against it, which isn't something you see now days much. As a matter of fact I don't think anyone under the age of 30-ish should even be allowed to have an opinion on cars especially when all they drive is this newer junk. just my opinion..

Also luv the 190E. Owned a standard 1989 for a few years. Purchased from family friend who purchased it in Austria new. Used it there, then had it shipped to the US. He moved back to Austria in 2004 sold it to me then. Such a enjoyable car to drive. Not fast but the ride quality was excellent. What stunned me was what he paid for it new. He had the original window sticker when I purchased it from me. List was $43K US dollars. That’s insane for 1989. Now it’s was no 2.5 16v Cos but for a weekend way but a great touring car. Great vid and beautiful car.

I remember seeing the W201 190's in 1983 of course being 16 at the time I was all about cars. I really wanted a 190 E 2.3 or 2.5 but couldn't afford a turn signal lens let alone the whole car, so I did what any young enterprising 16 year old would do,...I improvised. a 1972 Audi 100ls 4spd with a set of knock off BBS Wire Baskets and a rubber lip on the rear deck and I was any rally driver you pleased!! I loved that old car.

Alain De Cadenet was great on Speedvision. I believe he also hosted Legends of Motorsport.

The “Baby Benz” had to prove itself. It was quite small and therefore got mixed reviews. I saw these race DTM at Hockenheimring south of Frankfurt. Also Klaus Ludwig is a legend, he was a big Porsche 935 racer too. Those were the days kids!

This car is stunning. I've got one like this, but is in a box on a shelf on the wall inside my house. You can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3q7lq1_gr9lh80

I had a W201 190E 2.3 Sportline that I bought new in 1989 and even that model was a fun acquaintance when it came to driving characteristics and composition. I came directly from a 1987 BMW E30 320i with, among other things, original M-Tech I chassis. The BMW was clearly more agile and sporty, but where the Mercedes really shone was on the German Autobahn. The stability at higher speeds was so much better and safer in the Mercedes. The chassis was far more sophisticated than in the BMW and even over uneven vertical joints at high speeds, the car kept completely controlled stability. The overall build quality was also better in the Mercedes, but the interior design of the BMW seemed more modern. I love that period of BMW design (E28, E30, E31, E32, E34).

Around 400,000 miles are on my dad's 190E (not Evo or Cosworth) and the thing is still limping along. I hope to bring it back to its former glory some day.
