I have the C sport level 2 on order with the JCW body but I’ve gone black roof and black 19” alloys. I think the chilli red should be for the true JCW. Mines obviously not got the performance of this one but can’t wait will be my 3rd MINI my alll4 clubman being my favourite but not practical now.

Had mine 2wks, it’s in the exact same colour config with a level 2 pack which is plenty to play with…!!!!!, but it’s the drive that just stands above everything else. It has that mini go kart feel but within a bigger car which you don’t notice when driving . I really think Mini have designed a winner here it’s fun and funky… well done Mini…

Was in the market to replace an XC40 T5. Nothing appealed, then I saw this video on a Friday night. Rewatched it with my wife. Both thought it looked fab. Managed to sort a test drive on the Saturday, completed our order on the Monday and collected the car a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely love it! Nice influencing!!

I had to bail out half way through. I loved all your previous videos but I think you lost the plot 😂 . Looks like a quirky Citroen inside absolutely horrible . As for the sound effects changing modes very silly. Steering wheel is not practical. The wheels are awful. Exterior is 3 different vehicles welded together. Very disappointed should have been so much better. I have 2 new Minis both JCW they are pricey but are fairly good daily fun to drive. Was looking forward to the the countryman. Probably just buy a BMW X2 instead. I don’t like to criticise it all most seems you reading a Mini script and have not got your usual point of view. Sorry for the harsh comments normally love your stuff

I couldn't disagree with this commentary any harder. Completely ridiculous redesign, the Germans completely destroyed the spirit of Mini, this thing is a BMW X1 with a few design differences. The interior is absurd, there's no gauges in front of the driver, you have to look away from the windshield to see the info while driving the car. Whoever designed this should be fired immediately. I'll never have one of these ridiculous phoney BMW's in my garage. How much did BMW pay you to post this?

4:38 I will say, although its not as small as the name Mini would lead you to believe (countrymans have always been big), this does look like a very small SUV, which totally still fits the small, MINI theme.

Cool gadget Sat Nav for sure. Its a big old lump of a car, of which there are dozens to choose from and most are as well equipped and faster, better, more, but less expensive. Its almost 3ft longer than a Paceman and a foot wider! Now you can say it drives well and I'd agree, but "go kart feel" -you're having a giraffe or your memory is short. Sorry matey if you think that harsh, but its true. Lastly Mini claim 35mpg. They allegedly said the moon is made of cheese too. Buyers for this are Rangie types or Mini folks that no longer want a Mini. Nothing wrong with that btw.

A MINI had Round Headlights that honour its fantastic history! Those hexagon / oblong headlights a long with a typical BMW oversized Grill just….. kill it for me! It’s as ugly as most BMW models.. Well done BMW, you’ve ruined a true British 🇬🇧 Icon!!

I have owned a F56 JCW 2016 and Countryman S 2022 and love them both but this new countryman looks like a cheap Kia! Plastic everywhere and cheap interior.

£40k 😂 We have two MINI’s on the drive and they will be our last as the interior to us now just looks cheap. A JCW tank doesn’t do it for me. No doubt the JCW is a decent drive but can think about nothing worse when it comes to the more basic. No Clubman and the Hatch looks like a cheap Chinese knockoff of its former self. MINI seeing sales of the works clubman and hatch just now is for a reason because owners don’t like what’s coming and are jumping into the last Cars they like. Trying too hard to be this Cool lifestyle item, the adverts would put you off. Some of the past MINI interiors have been lovely and plush and great looking, inviting you in this just looks so plain and boring. Fancy cloth on the steering wheel 😂. So our 21 plate Clubman will get changed this year to something other than MINI and the hatch will continue on while I wait in what EV I’ll get maybe that new Renault 5 that looks fantastic.

The key question is "side by side with Charlie clubman, which would you choose?" I'm on my second JCW clubman, due to change it... I think I am going to keep it and buy it because of mini's crazy decision to kill the model. I've looked at the new countryman... Love the interior, and they've changed some exterior details at long last (gloss trim instead of the craplastic, quad tail pipes). BUT. It's an SUV and it has less power, and it's a bit boxy. And it's EXPENSIVE.

Im sorry, had and have mini’s im obsessed with the brand. Spent thousands on aftermarket parts on them. Including the wheels and eventuri from you’re Charlie. I never liked the original countryman so it was always going to be a hard sell but i have to say visually having seen this video i font think its hideous. Like the rear with the 4x exhaust. I do find however its not mini and trying to be a cheap defender. 300hp in a car that size and that heavy surely does not provide the mini go kart feel im sorry. The interior just looks like a citroen/fiat for me, not my cup of tea in the slightest. Ill stick to the last of the kind 306 JCW Clubman, they will have to pry it from my dead fingers. If you had the chance to drive those roads in your clubman and then the countryman replacement, tell me which you had more fun in. I smile every second of every journey in the clubby. Dont just need a 60 mph section. 👍 nice review but not for me Pete. Wrong direction from Mini.

Actually I prefer the design of the original Countryman, before the naff styling tweaks. Problem with many brands is the trying to make their cars more conventional looking after the initial concept type looks. Part of the appeal of Mini is the way it looks different to everything else. This Countryman does not seem to have the "unique" looks of a mini. I suppose the practicality makes up.

I would have to buy it you get what you pay for in this world And that is a lot of car for the money and reliability and rear value. OMG NOOOO I love minis and as an advanced driver loved driving and teaching students in them but this looks horrible to me the colour does not help and the inside looks terrible. It is almost like someone said how do we make the mini look like a boy racer and anyone with taste will look the other was. 40k 40k so no. I would find putting the car in sport and it say yehay I would find cringe worthy. We all have different views and it w[hat makes the world goes around. I would be amazed if they messed up the drive of the mini simply because of where the wheels are, as far in each corner as possible. Love the reviews thanks a lot. James

@@PetrolPed Test drive done. Impressive and it wasn’t even the JCW model. Impressed with the way it drove and the build quality and so was the wife! Placed an order for a JCW version with Level 3 pack. Love my JCW Coupe but I need something bigger going forward and this still keeps me in a Mini. Other option was a Range Rover Evoque (I’ve owned 2 before) but they are a bit “grown up” for me !… 🤣

Sorry, doesn't do it for me. I love my 2021 Countryman Cooper S . I was looking at upgrading my Mini Cooper 3dr Hatch to the new Mini Countryman but I just didn't like it - looks like any other car on the road (Land Rover Defender???). Obviously hadn't had the chance to drive it as it's not in Australia yet but I think it's ugly. I think Mini have gone off mark on this one and most of the people I have seen discussing it on the Mini Group in Australia, agree with me.

Great looking car. £45,000. Interesting. This car is basically a BMW X1 35i. That builds up at £55,000. So on that basis it's a bargain. So, get hold of Joe. Put him in the X1, you in the Countryman & do a comparison. 😊😊😊

Nice review. Just can't like this version. The first Countryman is, for me, was the best interpretation of the Mini look to a bigger car. Part of the appeal of Mini is the way it looks different from everything else. The way brands make designs to look more conventional, after the initial version which looks closer to it's concept (VW Scirocco and the Skoda Yeti are examples that come to mind) dilutes appeal, in my view. Won't the fabric dash and door trim be a magnet for dust? I like it's practicality though.

As a life, long Land Rover and a minivan and someone who has been trying desperately to find a defender I can afford. I stumbled across this, not even knowing they had one coming out. It’s a funny thing but haven’t had I guess around five different minis in my time I was hoping that this was going to be something reasonable and driveable for a family and when the family are not in the Yeehaw and have some fun and feel alive again.. when I saw your face hurt the sound and then saw that car I just knew I was in trouble. I had a test drive booked in at a dealer who called me to save a car wasn’t going to be there in time so pop down to the second closest dealer. Sitting in the showroom was for John Couper works in legend Gray with PAC3 on it at my monthly Payment with exactly my deposit on it and it’s available sitting in there, just saying come and get me daddy. Standby girl, I’m on my way. Good times ahead open roads. Plenty of car wax. Plenty of pictures and much love. I’d be delighted to get back into a mini and this one is definitely for me.

I definitely like the look of this car, especially in that black/red paint scheme and with 300 ponies I’m sure it’s fun. The design detail on the inside is good, something a bit different and I would definitely spec that pan roof which lightens and shows off the interior. My big bug bear (apart from the price) is that enormous key! What on Earth are you supposed to do with that?? It must ruin the line of your carefully curated PP wardrobe! 😂

We’ve got the outgoing Countryman Cooper S and have to say this new one isn’t a looker for me/us. It’s just overdoing it so much. Sorry to say it’s not for us… but that’s why we’re all different I guess!

Yes Pete.... got you written all over it. We had a few through at the dealership for new reg day (including a 47k JCW). They are big but built on the new BMW X1 chassis (the JCW has 20" rims) so do handle & feel upmarket. A look of Range Rover at the rear as you said, a full black one we had was compared to a mini RR Cullinan (BMW family I guess)!😂 Night time is interesting as the themes you played with include matching led pattern projection across the dashboard (giving a completely different looking dash for each one). Big step forward all round, the only thing i'd say though is ..... Keep the petrol pooch & pup off of those lovely woven door cards & dash 🤦‍♂️ Oh & the interior door handles look like Nissan 350Z external ones.... not sure why. Great car though.
