I remember my first year celebrating CNY at my husband's house during the family reunion dinner, I felt quite melancholic and shed a few tears secretly. There was a year when I went home on New Year's Eve to have the reunion dinner with my parents. Now, I'm used to going back to my parents' home on the first day of the new year since my husband's grandparents passed away.

感动😢 当年结婚后在新加坡夫家过年，整个气氛都不一样，身边除了老公，其他人都是不熟的老公家的亲戚…年除夕晚12点做的第一件事就是打电话给爸妈，然后隔着电话听着鞭炮烟花的声音🧨🎆 现在爸妈年纪大了没回家乡过年了，我就把他们接到我家来，那样就没有除夕、初一不能够跟爸妈一起的过年的烦恼了不过话说起来，1980年已经结婚就是60年代的人会叫妈妈做“妈咪”的吗😆

after my father's parents pass away during the 90s, from that time onwards, we will just go back to my mom's side since mom's parents are still there.....but when all grandparents pass away we don't really go back to anywhere hahah

Tradition is tradition First and second day is just a day to us I'm closer to my mother's side of the family, because my dad's parents had already passed on when I was born. But the good thing is, I see my mom's side of the family once or twice every week, so that's better than seeing once year. We have family reunion dinner every week, so the last day of the year is only a day in the tradition. Do not abandon your family, you'll regret after it's too late Have a prosperous year of the dragon Cheers

Outdated traditional no need to follow, we have gender equality already, Malaysian Chinese should learn to negotiate and take turns each year, it's really not that hard.

Totally agree more often gatherings with family members are healthy and have close bondings.. not necessarily have to have expensive food simple healthy food is good too.. 🎉🎉🎉

I believe there is a reason for such tradition, imagine ancient time, lady will married with husband and live far away, and that time transport not convenient, since woman living with husband at the same house, so CNY automatically celebrate with the husband family first, then 2nd day only go back....but with everything so convenient now, i think we can just make arrangement.

I jst knew about this tradition when i saw this ad.. but just me thinking for the parent that only have daughters.. They will be not celebrate CNY on Day 1 and alwys waiting for Day 2 to celebrate..
