Thanks for the interpretation. Petrosian's strength lay in his complete understanding of the main issue of the chess game, which was overlooked by many grandmasters, even champions. That is why he could see the game from the very beginning and move in the right direction, and not just necessarily win, which is what 99 percent of chess players strive for. Well done...

Yo Dawg! More excellent stuff! Tigran did make chess look so easy sometimes! He plays so "simply", someone said that of Bobby also at one point. So 6-0 vs Taminov, 6-0 vs Larsen is ridiculous and epic, but 6-1/2 - 2-1/2 vs the Iron Tiger Petrosian could actually have been even more impressive!! In 1972, Bobby was a chess bulldozer the likes of which had never been seen before and I think would still be a force to be dealt with even today. All due respect to Gary and Magnus! (Wow, what a match either of those pairings would be!) We are privileged to have seen and see them all!!

One of the best analysis I’ve come across. A great and easier to understand example for a lower rated player like myself. It unlocks a great deal of strategic concepts.

Happy subscriber here! Thanks for this. It brought me back to when I first started playing chess in the early 1960s when the long reigning world champion, Bottvinik was having troubles with Tal then Petrosian. I loved Petrosian games because of his defense (the Iron Tiger!). Sadly, Petrosian moved down my list of favorites as Fischer ascended because of how quick Petrosian went for draws with white or black and Fischer went for victories instead of draws. This is not to overly criticize Petrosian, he's still my 6th favorite player of all time after Fischer, Morphy, Capablanca, Tal, and Judit Polgar. I see a Petrosian game and I'm up for it.

The strategy was so clear that you could almost predict every next move. Why looks Chess so easy and it is yet so difficult?
@Veaseify

Very well explained! Your spoken style of describing chess reminds me very much of the writing style of Irving Chernev back when I was learning the game. His game analysis had very few variations and an emphasis on the main strategic principles and a few tactical motifs. He isn't highly regarded these days because he would have missed a few subtleties in positions and a few computer engine corrected tactics but as a starting point his books are still useful. I don't know if teaching is your day job but you come across as someone used to explaining things to an audience...

Good morning: It is really sad (not to say somewhat hurtful) to observe the level of emptiness in the comments of your valuable and esteemed channel. Unfortunately, the phenomenon is unstoppable and its metastasis permeates all KZbin programs. Although there are few of us who follow your classes with heightened awareness, learning and enjoying them with your sharp analysis of these (brilliant) historical games, please do not close the channel by any chance. Thank you very much for your disposition.
